I have some money in paypal that I would like to use as cash or put in my bank account. I don't trust paypal to put in my debit card but there is also the option to put in a routing and account number. I know I did this for my work so my paycheck can go into my bank but if someone was to hack into my account can they drain my savings and checkings with just the routing and account number?

I think you're being too cautious as long as you have a strong password IF something was to happen and your information was to get compromised PayPal would likely notify you almost immediately. If not you'd hear about it on the news and Paypal themselves would likely halt all transactions. Not to mention in a personal account (mine anyways) I have to wait for bank transfers to clear even after they withdrew it(which is why I don't do it, takes too long)... So hacking Paypal for instant access of your money is actually quite wasteful, as even when you ask for a deposit you don't get money right away...

 

If you really want, go to your bank and open up a new account under your main account for this single transaction, esp if you dont have bank fees or pay per transaction instead of monthly, this keeps your money safe as that account will have a 0 balance (transfer $2-5 for PP to confirm it) and you can close it directly after.

 

If you think something bad has happened (Paypal does not show your full info just the last 3/4 digits of your account and bank provider) it only costs a few bucks to change account numbers, and can usually get it waived under the proper conditions. When I bought BTC my bank annoyingly locked my account xD

They could maybe social engineer a way of doing it, but that likelihood is quite slim. You could always add your bank account and then remove it once you're done.

3 words: Two Factor Authentication.

 

Add your phone to your account and require that a code get sent to it every time you want to log in. That'll protect you from getting hacked.

 

I have both my bank account and debit card on my PayPal account and have had no issues with it at all. You'll be fine.

If your bank has any form of online security like a device that you have to use with your card and PIN to generate a code, then any criminal can't do much with just your account number and sort code even if they went into a branch since they should also do ID checks unless they're that dumb and just take the information as actual ID.

Use your paypal to buy a pc, mine litecoin, trade litecoion for bitcoin, use bitcoin to buy GPU, sell GPU for cash.   I am led to believe this is the future of all currency transactions because crypto is king.

 

 

 

Seriously just enable 2 factor on everything and use good passwords. I have Paypal attached to my debt account and have done for years, no issues what so ever.

My hyper security password is over 30 characters long and multi non dictionary words including various hardware manufacturer codes.

 

If anyone guesses that or cracks it, unless I somehow get key logged, I'd be surprised.

if you get hacked you just won’t have money for like a week at most unless you have your account through a shitty third party bank/local and not a big one.

 

So it’s not a big deal it only is if you have billions that get robbed Because then you probably won’t get 100% of your money back but I doubt that’s the case

Doesn’t matter how secure your password is, all it takes is one person you trust to give you a link to a phishing site and your done. I know a person who made a living getting close to people just to fish them
