Can't delete quotes on mobile

If you quote someone while on mobile, you can't delete it if you decide you want to discard the message. If you try refreshing the page, it's still in the box.

I've had to post blank message a couple times because of this.

 

I use Chrome.

Its been this way since the day they upgraded the forum software and is very well reported.

 

The issue seems to be fixed in Firefox Quantum, at least for me it is.

You can remove contents from editor with undo. I think there's another, but don't remember now.

I just scanned through the first page to see if it was posted, didn't feel like digging all the way through. Plus maybe with more posts they'll get around to fixing it

I'm not a fan of Firefox on mobile. It's better, but I still experience crashes where it restarts and I lose all the tabs I have opened.

Lucky. I've had it just crash randomly. I'll open it back up and everything will be gone. It's been a persistent issue over the past 4 years, through 4 or 5 devices.

Yeah, if you leave the page, come back and click in the reply box an info bar appears asking if you want to clear the previously saved content.

You can clear the whole editor by tapping the bin/trash can icon in the editor toolbar, or by clicking the "clear editor" button on the banner that appears if you refresh and it restores the content.

We're aware that deleting quotes doesn't work very well on mobile, which is why those workarounds exist, but it's not something that we are able to fix.

That gets rid of everything quoted though doesn't it?

I make frequent use of the multi quote feature. It's odd that it doesn't work the same as it does on the desktop where you can just keep hitting delete and it gets rid of the quote.

I'll probably just use it less on mobile...though it's pretty rare that I do anyway.

The reason it doesn't work is that Android keyboards don't send normal keyboard events, so listening for backspace events doesn't work. There are a few keyboards, like Hacker Keyboard, that do send all the events though, and it does work correctly with that.
