AMD burns Intel with the best Linux Kernel patch ever ensuring that AMD CPU performance is not affected by PTI

AlTech

I hope my intel machines aren't hit too hard in performance, at least for the tasks I need them to perform. Definitely not buying an Intel CPU this year.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

You seem to be very exited about Linux developments lately. I mean don't get me wrong I don't want to take away from your passion but most of us don't look at code and think "OMG SICK FUCKING BUUUUURN!" because of the name of a few variables.

Actually, there is no burn there, just checking to see if the CPU vendor is AMD and bypassing the PTI fix if it is. This, using, presumably, pre-defined constants.

They should have also modified the comment block to specify that AMD has been verified to not be affected by the Meltdown issue.

I'm assuming that the bypassed code only corrects PTI and not either levels of Spectre.

Well before we see benchmark numbers I'm not going to cry much over this tbh, but this is pretty funny anyway

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler
