Well what games does he like more (though this looks like it's becoming less of a factor as Nintendo keeps pulling in third-party support), and what does he want.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

it depends, whether he wants portability or performance at 4k

Xbox one x - crappy overpriced PC

Switch - versatile mobile device with a bunch of fantastic and unique games

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I would take the Switch, but that's because I find myself driving (passenger) to clients and having a 3DS or Switch makes those rides easier to handle.

This is a ridiculous question to ask here given what info you have provided. It all depends on what kind of games he's into. If he likes shooters it's XBox all the way with Battlefield, Overwatch, COD WWII, and a much better version of Doom. If it's RPGs I'd probably go Switch just for BOTW. But Switch also has a few really interesting RPGs in the pipeline in Shin Megami Tensei V and Project Octopath Traveler. Plus they should have a new Fire Emblem game in 2018 and they have some great DS/3DS RPG series like Bravely Default and Pokemon that should find their way to the Switch too, If he likes sim driving then it's XBox all the way because of Forza. For arcade driving Switch is obvious for Mario Kart 8.

Switch, XBox makes no sense because not many exclusives if at all.

Another thing to consider would be the PS4, but XBox not soo much...

Agree, first thing is to find out what games that individual likes.  Also, would that individual prefer a full blown console media box or a mobile gaming system.  The Switch and Xbox are very different on what each can do.

As stated the Switch is a nice portable gaming system.

The Xbox One S or X are decent consoles, and added bonus both can play 4K HDR movies (if their is a 4K HDR TV already owned) and do streaming along with doubling as a DVR.
