Theye either confirming it, or the Asus twitter employee is a legend at trolling. Maybe they hired the Girl who did the Wendy's tweets?

(Also sadly this is not "news" worthy, at it doesnt fit the criteria and post guidelines)

10 fps improvement over the 1070 for $450. Pass. Nvidia gets no more money from me until Volta comes out.

This is just a money grab.

With GTX 1070s currently being $400, it's a reasonable price. Yes it's a money grab, but only to grab money away from people considering the RX Vega 56 (if they could find one easily enough where they live).

With no proper confirmation as to when Volta is being released, people that can't wait around for Volta (likely to be hard to get a hold of initially anyway) have a better choice of GPU if they're upgrading from an older graphics card or building a new system.

This is true. But I get tired of products solely for market share in a small market.

Be nice! Products like these aren't created on a whim. The effort and marketing and cost of this product could have been better spent on something truly new... not just a product in between two other existing products with an incremental boost in gaming performance.

But if they can spend less (comparted to R&D) to:

1) drive more sales

2) reclaim market share from a competitor (e.g. AMD's Vega 56)

then it is a business decision worth pursuing. "Performance" of the product is irrelevant so long as it increases the bottom line (short term for quick sales, medium/long term for driving the Vega 56 out of the market).

A corporation only wants to make money (e.g. value for shareholders): creating a product is merely a means to an end. And a corporation will choose the one with the best cost/benefit ratio (described above); what consumers think about them is irrelevant so long as the bottom line remains intact.

Yup. As a consumer: don't care. I'll still talk shit about them until they release a product that is more attractive than my money. It comes with the territory.
