Hmmmm.... not really. They look like they need to be bent down towards the bottom of the mobo. Does it still work?

Yeah it worked before I took it apart but the OC was terrible and 2/6 ram slots didn't work.

Can you find a pin layout schematic for LGA1366? It may tell you what those pins do and where they are supposed to be.

I found the schematic, but I don't really want to mess around with the pins any more. Il leave the rest as they are now.

K. It is a bit of a dilemma, since trying to fix it could just make it worse... so leaving it is probs the best choice.

Welp. I just gave up and mounted the cooler back on. I proceeded to try remove the northbridge to replace the thermal paste. And guess what? As I give up and try to screws the tiny screw back on, I slam my screwdriver tip first into my mobo. I'm so done with life.

Today is not a good day for me.

Oh boy.. well on the bright side I have been seeing more x58 boards on ebay than there have been recently

Welp. I plugged in the system, pressed the power button annndd nothing. Literally one light glows. 

I think to myself fuuuuuuck, iv finally screwed it up. No way I'm fixing this. 

Out of sheer desperation, I see the reset CMOS button glowing (thanks gigabyte). Press it and it boots up no problem.  Welp, that was a rollercoaster.

Yeah, I've got their GPU too and it runs with no problems. Boy I'm happy to not have screwed anything up.

I've had some moments like that, when installing my motherboard I accidentally bent several of the transistors or whatever they are. I had hit them kind of hard and so I was nervous they wouldn't work but I straightened them out and everything worked just fine

I think everyone's had those moments. In other news, my CPU now seems to be happy at 3.75ghz with 1700mhz ram??...

Well, if you want over 1k you need about 4.3 GHz or so. Temps are fine, so going further should be possible

Yeah, its a very respectable score, but I used to hit 100 points more back with my 3.6ghz clock.

Honestly, the problems are probably due to my own incompetence. Who knows though, maybe the silicon lottery was terrible for me. Maybe the CPU was abused before I bought it, maybe it's the pins.... 

Still rolling at 18,000wu though, about 15,000 higher than my i5 6200u laptop

LOL sorry, I am at work so I try to read and type quickly so I can still get work done. I have a lot of typos because of it and I seem to have missed that haha

 

If you wanted a new 5650 they are going pretty cheap on ebay, you might be able to overclock more with a different one
