I feel that, I just bough some tickets yesterday to go see my family for Christmas.

If you do find some money for xeons it can be a lot of fun to work with them. The nice thing though is there is no rush, they aren't going anywhere and the price can really only go down even more

I bought mine off of a user named Linus on Sweclockers for like 200kr. Not that expensive.

LOL sorry, I am at work so I try to read and type quickly so I can still get work done. I have a lot of typos because of it and I seem to have missed that haha

If you wanted a new 5650 they are going pretty cheap on ebay, you might be able to overclock more with a different one

Eh I'm throwing in the towel. I really don't need the extra performance anyways.

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600WRampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda.

being a highschool student those 1000kr a month need to get me a LOT of EXPENSIVE AF stuff right now, forgot to add in the MC license in that calculation too, either way was that for the entire system or just the CPU? because im probably spending more then that on just a replacement for my Nostromo lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

hahah im in the same pickle. In 'gymnasium', and 1000kr allowance. I end up spending most of my cash on snacks. :/

200 was just for the CPU. Calculate another 1000 for mobo+ram.

Try looking at cafes if they need a dish boy (or girl). Pretty easy job with okay pay.

Alternatively, go to Webhallen or somewhere and ask if you can work part time building systems or something, since I know they are taking applications for that.

I presuming you aren't in Stockholm.:P We have a few webhallen and dustin stores, and a bunch more online stores.

Hoping to join the Xeon club soon.  My x5675 should be in the mail.

I built my x58 system back in 2010.  I had been saving up for an engagement ring, when my GF decided we weren't meant to be.  Brokenhearted, and with $1300 that no longer had a purpose in my pocket, I built my first legit gaming rig.  Honestly, I dodged a bullet there.

I've been considering jumping to a z270 or Ryzen platform for a few months, but it's hard to justify the $600 upgrade when I can just drop $40 into a new Xeon and still cover all of my needs.

Current build:

i7 930 @ 3.36ghz

Gigabyte GA-ex58-UD5

6GB G.Skill Pi Series DDR3 @ 1600mhz

Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB

Samsung 750 EVO 250GB

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB HD

Seagate 160GB HD (from the trash... held my OS until I could transfer it to the SSD.  Now it's just kinda there.)

Corsair TX-750

DeepCool Captain 240EX

Crammed inside an NZXT S340

Samsung Syncmaster 2333SW 23" Monitor

Logitech K740 keyboard
Razer Mamba 2012 Mouse

Next upgrades on the way:
Xeon x5675 (hopefully around 4.5ghz)
New Monitor (27" 1440 or 29" Ultrawide, not sure which yet)
New 650W PSU (so it will be under warranty)
12GB DDR3
New mech keyboard

Small upgrades like this, and I'm hoping to make it another year or two before changing platforms.

Hehe. My screen runs off VGA (too cheap to buy an HDMI cable, and I don't need one...), so I'm good.

What are the 1050ti's like for gaming? I'm on the fence over getting a 1050ti or 1060 3gb (or the RX 570 once prices settle).

Don't worry about size. Some of us just feel the need to compensate. :P

They're pretty good, didn't get a chance to benchmark mine with Battlefront, so I only played older games. But they are great for med-med/high at 1080p, judging from reviews and how mine did in Uningine Valley and such.

What are the 1050ti's like for gaming? I'm on the fence over getting a 1050ti or 1060 3gb (or the RX 570 once prices settle).

Don't worry about size. Some of us just feel the need to compensate. :P

GTX 1050 Ti's performance is pretty close to a GTX 960. It's OK for medium settings at 1080p or high settings in older (<2013) games.

I’ve mainly been using this for PES 2018 and it runs at 60fps on 1080p fine.

Haven’t really played anything else yet, bought a Switch earlier this year and ploughing through Zelda!

i found a 1050ti second hand for £100 so it was a no brainer for me vs the 1060 in the UK.

It may handle high if you tweak AA and such, especially in games like Battlefront that are really well optimized.

They're pretty good, didn't get a chance to benchmark mine with Battlefront, so I only played older games. But they are great for med-med/high at 1080p, judging from reviews and how mine did in Uningine Valley and such.

Ah okay, thanks. Think I'll look for a 1060 3gb then.

Custom pinewood case, Corsair CX 600WRampage 3 Extreme, i7 980x (@4.2ghz) with ML240 Cooler MSI GTX 970, 24gb DDR3, 240gb OCZ Tr150 SSD + 2Tb Seagate Baracuda.

Advocate for used/older hardware. Also one of the resident petrol heads.
