in other words, MX4 is better in terms of temperature plus as others have already said, its easier to clean and is slightly less thick however whether its worth the extra monies or not is down to you ;)

I need myself some new thermal paste and Arctic MX-2 is a fair bit cheaper than MX-4, and I was wondering what the difference between the 2 and 4 are?

2 is older and thicker, 4 is newer and runnier. I actually prefer 2 myself. Think 4 is supposed to be better. They also sell it in a big tube, in case you have need more quantity.

4, it applies better and is easier to clean off.

Also some performance improvement IIRC.

They made MX-3 too? I missed that one, although judging by the chart, it is best forgotten.

Interesting comments on the thickness and application, I found 2 to be easier to handle due to the increased thickness. Haven't had problem to clean either.

To me, both 2 and 4 does the job perfectly fine. I do remember having to take something like 30 extra seconds to clean MX2 (compared to MX4, MX4 on 3570K, MX2 on 2300) and I think it did stain a little but the MX2 was considerably older so... :P

i have a lot of experience with MX-2, its my shit paste i use to test stuff and its a pain to clean

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
