A cheaper variant of the Razer Blade Pro is now available....for $2299

The Razer Blade Pro debut last year as a laptop designed to not only do gaming but also some "professional" line of work as well as a laptop like the MacBook Pro (even making jokes about it).

 

It certainly had guts with a GTX 1080 graphics processor and a Core i7 7820HK CPU, backed up by 32GB of DDR4 memory and up to 2TB of PCI-E storage.

 

One problem; it's pricey. Very pricey, starting at $4000.

 

Today, Razer just unveiled a cheaper version of the Blade Pro, which starts at a more palatable $2299. However, you do give up quite a bit for those savings.

 

The CPU is bumped down to a 7700HQ and the GPU is down to a GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM. RAM drops to 16GB of DDR4-2400 (although they can be swapped out) and storage is a combination of a PCI-E 256GB drive with a 2TB 5400RPM HDD. The display is also down from an IGZO UHD display to a 1080p IPS 120Hz display, while also losing G-SYNC in the process.

 

The battery and charger are shrunk due to the less powerful internals and the keyboard is also not mechanical unlike its UHD-toting cousin.

 

For $2300 though, that's quite a lot for a laptop featuring a GTX 1060 as other laptops feature similar hardware configs (though likely doesn't have PCI-E storage or a 120Hz display) at a lower price, even down to just shy of a grand in the case of the Lenovo Legion Y720 on sale.
