What is this Connector

What laptop is it? The manufacturer might have a specific name for it.

 

But it's just for a dock specific to that laptop lineup.

It's just a proprietary dock connector.

Might say what it is on the motherboard but generally dock connectors aren't named.

Docking port would be the best descriptor that ignores the short, yellow bus variety of special naming manufacturers like to use.

if you have the manufcaturer and model of the laptop we can tell you waht they would call it.

 

but the general technical term for a port that is used to connect a laptop to a docking station....is a docking port.

There's literally nothing we can really say. Manufacturers generally don't give those ports a name outside of "dock connector".

It is Dell proprietor dock connector port. Dell sells dock station that connect under business class laptops giving additional video output signal, USB ports, Ethernet and more

Because it has E-SATA i assume it's from around 2012.

I got Dell Docks here.  I can look at them to see what crazy name they give the darn connector.

 

Well, looked at the quick setup guide for the docks.  They call it a docking connector.

No fancy name.
