Will the release of i9 bring down costs of other intel 7th gen products

With the release of the i9 I am curious if the prices of the other 7th gen processors will drop or stay the same. I think they will drop but only like the i5 or i3. What do you guys think?

No. HEDT doesn't compete with mainstream. Your only chance here is Threadripper, but even if its much better at its respective price points I doubt Intel will lower prices. If they did it would be their X299 prices not their mainstream anyway, Intel is a stubborn/prideful beast and it will take them a long time to accept they aren't alone at the top anymore.

why should the prices for the i5 drop?

1.) as @Lurick already stated, it is intel and i never saw any price drop on their side

2.) the people who are buying i5s and i3s are a completely different target group than the ones who buy a new i9 cpu. i9 costs thousands, i3s and i5s only hundreds of US $, completely different scale.

3.) they didn't offer even the entry level x299 chips in a price range below the standard desktop platform so no need from intels side to drop prices of chips even below that.

I mean, a "brand new" 4790K still costs $325 on ebay, but so does the 7700K (granted they perform within 10% of eachother IIRC but still) even though the 4790k is three years old

Intel's i9 is a new name of extreme i7, so it would likely to not drop the cost of current i7-7700K. I think it is silly because i feel the destiny of normal kabylake and skylake is gonna be leftover like FX CPU, not sure though.

 

but guess what? On the other side AMD (source : G+) announces that Ryzen 7 price would drop because the release of threadripper! I do not know if this is true but hey i am a noob in G+

They could, but it will only happen in the segment where you are close to consider an X299 PC. Most likely there won't be a big difference in the consumer platform until the next consumer lineup is launched. And even then, it will rather be a market price fall, rather than a reduction in Intel MSRP: for example, intel is not updating the X99 prices in any way, although of course both retailers and the used market are starting to slowly bring them down, since X299 is substantially cheaper. In other words, Intel will only update its prices through new launches, and older generations will be adjusted at the retail level depending on stocks and demand.
