I'm living in the Philippines, Valenzuela City and I'm averaging at 5 megabits/sec for the price of $83/mo. My ISP is PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Company).

I went with them because they're the most stable ISP in my city. Internet speeds in my country is overpriced. I think they're monopolizing on us and holding back development up until global companies startup shop here.

Please do share tips on picking an ISP for your location and on picking an internet plan as well. :)

On school Wi-Fi right now.

Location: Tartu, Estonia

ISP: Elion (Estonian Telecom)

Advertised speed: 300/300

Actual speed: 260/280

Cost per month: 33 euros (excluding other services)

This is on fibre. They offer DSL too, up to 40/10. However, they use IPTV for their television service, meaning that you need their router if you're going to watch TV.

Paying for 100/3 VDSL connection. (only 50-100 guaranteed)

Upload sucks here, best you can do is 200/5 on cable (DOCSIS) or 100/3 (VDSL2)

Soon we should be getting symmetrical FTTH with 100Mbps, 200Mbps or even 1Gbps(!!!) but the deployment is VERY slow

From a 10/1 with 50+ms to this, I´m so happy right now.

I found this, and I was right. They didn´t delivered.
