*UPDATE 2: AMD RX VEGA Spotted in TechPowerUp GPU Database (Supposed to launch April 28)

you should abbrevate it to ASTAX

Hah! Yes, the bastards are crazy; their 1060 Strix is the same price, and you can get a 1070 at £360.

yes, Polaris refresh has higher clocks. Can you tell me another number regarding Polaris refresh that shot up wildly as a result?

The point is

-every successive GCN iteration from AMD allows for lower power draw at a given clock speed (other factors being equal)

Considering that Vega again is going to be more efficient than Polaris, and considering Polaris on 14nm already shows 1400Mhz, a 100Mhz higher clock for a newer design like vega is not unbelievable on the same process.

Also considering that this is the high end market; so AMD will not and should not hesitate to release a card which takes 75 watts more than rx 580, if they need to in order to hit their performance target.

Besides... all you need is a good quality 550-600 watt psu. I run my hawai R9 290 vapor x overclocked on both memory and core with a seasonic gold 550 watt psu. That's  with a i7 3770K CPU, 4 case fans + 280mm water cooler pump with another 2 fans, HDD, SSD etc. Even with furmark and intel burn test running simultaneously the PSU is perfectly fine with this load. My point is this is the high end market and a few more watts than Nvidia will not hurt AMD as long as they stay cool with good designs like my GPU.

Looks like we know one of the games AMD will be using to show off Vega. Just look at how well the Fury X is doing compared to the GTX 1080.

It really is, and AMD aren't partnered with Relic either. Would love to know what the developers did during optimisation for their engine.

Looks like it uses all the Stream Processors on the Fury X.

Even the GTX 780Ti is doing really well there, especially when compared to even Gameworks games.

Very impressive, I'm starting to reconsider upgrading my fury X with vega if it continues to age this well.

System specs:

4790k

GTX 1050

16GB DDR3

Samsung evo SSD

a few HDD's

Aging well seems to be a factor of both overbuilt hardware and stellar driver support. i.e. continue to test/optimize previous models in newer games.

Toms hardware recently did a test of frostbite engine in DX12 mode on Battlefield 1.

Keep in mind that the R9 280x used to be a GTX 770 competitor. The R9 290 used to be a GTX 780 competitor.

Obviously older Nvidia hardware is capable of doing better, but somebody at Nvidia has to put in the work to test GPUs, optimize, push devs etc... even if they are no longer on sale.

Hmm well, hopefully they had more than enough time to finalize it. As far as clock speeds, will be interesting yeah.
