A student was gunned down a few years ago in the parking lot of one of the campuses I go to every week. It's pretty sketch. Especially with the non-stop gang violence in the area.

Oh, you mean that little ad that's like a 250x250 pixel square on the right corner of the website that I can scroll down and ignore very easily when I'm browsing a forum thread? I wasn't aware that was in my face. I should really get my eyes checked or something so I can enjoy the full in-my-face experience. I hear that's a delicacy around the internet these days.

Or maybe I could invest in an OLED monitor so I can burn in the image of the ad to see it on my screen wherever I go. :o

On a serious note, I'm really not understanding what you're complaining about. It's small, doesn't obstruct much of anything, and you can scroll down to ignore it, especially if you're reading a thread or looking for one of the sections nearer the bottom of the page. Why is this a big deal at all?

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

Also, if anyone has their mind corrupted by an anthropomorphic black latex bat, please let me know. I would like to join you.

It can interrupt you, especially when you are typing your forum. In the same time , Google can make money. The way to stop those ads, use AdBlock.

It's only a matter of time AdBlock is treated the same way as piracy if you look at the big picture.

Its 1-3 ads. None of them is obstructive in any way (except little on mobile). If you go to ANY online retailers site, you will be blown out by massive ad attack. Same goes with Reddit for example.

Surprise people still use AdBlock.  There are better alternatives than that plug-in.

I pretty much don't see ads since I don't install Flash, and use a plug-in to kill scripts that I don't allow to run.

300x250 pixels? That's so huge... Do you use a 800x600 monitor?

With smaller screen forum would revert to using low res version. And with that all ads are under almost everything else. So they would be even more out line of sight.

I'm not a huge fan of what I've heard about ABP's antics, but I just kinda like it more than, say uBlock Origin. It just seems less intrusive, easier to use. Not sure how else to put it. I do have it disabled on this forum though, I barely notice the ads, they're totally out of my way and I want to support LMG.

that one ad, doesnt even come close to what it costs to keep this stuff spinning.

Add up all of the contributors and come back to me. It's not. Some time ago (before ips4 and floatplane) IIRC I got ~ 20k USD a year in contributors. That doesn't even cover one employee, but I can't imagine it's a sink.

Also, what ads? lol I've never had ads on this forum, adblock or not.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch
