Apple reveals self-driving car plans

Yeap, but it's an Android problem as this is the chosen form of distribution for OS updates.

People might need a wireless router in their garage in order to download iOS updates for their car. Sucks for people who live in condominiums and apartments with basement parking. I think Apple is better of licensing car software to car manufacturers than making a car. I don't think Jony Ive can design a car as pretty as a Honda Legend 2015 or a 2017 Chevrolet Volt.

There's no reason they can't upload updates over 4G LTE, or otherwise as Tesla do?

Also... You're setting the bar pretty low if you're using the Honda Legend 2015, and 2017 Chevy Volt as your benchmark... To each their own though, I guess.

The thing that worries me the most is all of the safety breakthroughs that they might make/stumble into, and patent...keeping them exclusive to the iCar, when they would benefit everyone. Or even worse, patent and never use, but making sure no one else can use them either. The patent system is so broken that way.

I'm yet to see a TPMS system that will give you live tyre pressure readings, rather a warning light will show on the dash if a tyre drops below a set threshold.

As to your patent idea... Totally agree. Don't forget patent trolls monetising old, non-applicable, or deliberately ambiguous patents.

Now that I think about it. An Apple philosophy car would be quite cool. Thin and light would give it advantages for aerodynamics and the many positives of weight savings. Their SoCs are market leading so imagine a 4 cylinder producing like 700 horsepower while consuming very little fuel. It would be a good looking and sleek design. It would be a pain in the ass to work on and parts would be very expensive.

So basically a BAC Mono.

Because of expensive data plans. Besides, I'm not really a car geek. I'm perfectly fine with my Honda Civic.

To be fair, a self driving vehicle won't need a steering wheel theoretically. Though I can see legislation requiring it to be left in in case the passenger wishes to drive manually.

Or in case of emergencies. Because planes can take off, cruise, and land by themselves now but a yoke or side stick is still required. And if you think about it, would you get onto a plane that doesn't allow manual overriding? Most likely not. Same with a car.

So I'll take back the steering wheel. But I do retain the seat comment.

Depends what model line you go down.... That could be the two seater "city" version. But you could go exec mobile modeled after the MacBook Pro line - Sleek, modern, lightweight, and powered by workhorse grade mechanics... 1.4L Turbo Cummins Diesel.

I don't think it works like that. An adapter is something you use to change the plug/port. That guage has that port built in. It's like saying a standard USB flash drive plugged into a standard USB port is a USB adapter. While maybe technically true because there is a USB plug connected to the rest of the flash drive no one actually considers that an adapter.
