How much data does everyone use via their home network. Does your ISP impose data caps on your service? What country are you in?

I'm mainly just interested in how ISP's behave around the world. I am in the UK and pay around £45 a month for my internet which is 30Mbps/8Mbps and has an unlimited data cap

UK here. About £40 per month for 40/10, no cap.

I honestly have no idea how much data I use a month as I have a VPN running most of the time and Windows doesn't seem to track the usage when it's active. Here's my current usage from where I haven't used a VPN:

Vast majority of that is Chrome.

I cant show data usage on my desktop, because the data usage thing on my desktop dont seem to be right at all... must be something wrong with it or something.

5 gb over my phone wifi.

the biggest reason why not more is because I am not using things like youtube on my phone, because I am always at one of my computers when I can and want to watch youtube.

Why use a VPN?

On my main PC (which gets about 6/6 because of my ghetto wifi antenna) I use roughly 150GB per month, and on my phone I use about 10-15. Then my laptop goes through maybe a single gigabyte (I don't use it much at home).

Why not? The way I see it, there's no reason to not use one. I only really turn it off when playing an online game so my ping is good. Everything else I just keep it on.

I don't see a need to use one i was curious what the benifits would be.

It provides security and privacy by encrypting traffic and sending data through a dedicated server rather than directly to the destination. This provides a level of anonymity, as the destination only sees the VPN server's address and not yours. It can also be used to appear as you are in another country, bypassing location blocks where content is only accessible in certain countries. It can also prevent traffic based throttling from your ISP. My ISP throttles P2P traffic and some streaming traffic at certain times of the day. The VPN stops the ISP from seeing the type of traffic, so I don't get throttled.

I usually use around 500GB just on my PC. So I would say our household uses 700GB. We pay around 15 dollars for 16/1,5 with no cap.

belgium, depending on the month i use somewhere in the 200-500GB range.

in terms of payment, it's a bit complex because it's in a plan with TV, and some other stuff, totalling like in the €100 range i think.

in terms of datacap.. yeah.. fair use policy :P

basicly, between midnight and midday (the AM hours) i have no limit, what so ever,

between midday and midnight (the PM hours) i have 750GB per month.

in terms of speed, i have 200/20 (with 80% guaranteed speed, that's quite a big thing to note there ;))

and when i go over that 750GB cap my speed gets reduced to something like 30/5, they like to change this one around so i cant say it for sure (and i also rarely ever reach it, even with twitch playing 24/7), note that this slowdown is only in the PM hours, so in the AM hours i stil have 200/20 :P
