Typical MS not liking how people use THEIR computers and forcing them to do it how MS wants. In before they also reinstall default apps and disable "Get-AppxPackage | Remove-AppxPackage" and "Get-AppxPackage *package name* | Remove-AppxPackage" instructions on powershell

At least they don't change your settings or re-install stuff you removed, plus telemetry is opt-in and spotlight doesn't require to contact a server to search for local files on your machine.

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

I agree. Looks like my timetable for building a router just got moved up a little.

I'll be interested to see if SpyBot AntiBeacon will be able to compensate for these updates and still block those services like Cortana from sending out data.

On a related note, I had been planning on throwing together spare parts I have sitting around into a dedicated streaming PC tonight, and I was going to use the Win7 license key from my old dead laptop I had in college to upgrade it to Win10. Maybe not? Idk. Since Win7 is already past end of life mainstream support, it might not be worth the hassle of using the older OS....

Mainstream support doesn't mean much after the typical large service pack or two is out, and there isn't any hassle in using an OS that is beyond its mainstream support period. No mainstream support only means that no new features will be added to the OS. But it isn't going to break or anything just because it isn't getting new features (except the nasty ones people don't want but which MS arbitrarily forces on them). Windows 7 is a complete OS and doesn't require feature additions. Windows 10, on the other hand, is still in an incomplete state, so it needs the mainstream support.

Today is the final day to get the free upgrade to Windows 10, so I recommend getting that key upgraded while you can. Once it's upgraded, you can use Win 7 or 10, whichever you prefer. But then you'll always have the ability to choose between them.

So to confirm the news. I did try on my side the Store GPOs, and all listed Group Policies related to the Store don't do anything on the latest fast ring Insider Build.

I am looking at the feedback app, and there is pretty much no one really reporting the issue. Now, the Store did get a massive overall, so seeing that these GPOs are still there in Windows 10 Pro, and not removed. It COULD possibly be a bug. OR, they only work IF Windows 10 Pro is joined to a domain (that, I cannot test).

Can anyone that has a domain system, test to see if Windows 10 Pro (Build 14393.5), once joined to it, those the GPOs work?

My office runs all win 10 pro on a domain. I will update my test machine and let you know.

Though my server is 2012 R2 based, so who knows how itll go.

Yeah, I know its the last day, which is why I was thinking about tossing the rig together tonight. My question was more about whether or not MS is going to keep pulling shit like this and if it would be better to keep Win7.

It'll be fine, I've had my 10 machine on a 2012 R2 domain. Remember Server 2016 isn't even out yet.

Oh it tuns fine yes. Im wondering if i can edit any gpo settings on the local machine as i locked out editing opening gpo in the OU. Maybe ill set my user outside of it.

I know that these win10 settings dont appear in my server.

Ive actually had issues with it in some personalalization settings because of the differences.

I'd get the upgrade because none of us knows where things will end up right now. Get it, so Win 10 is registered to the license, and then reinstall Windows 7, and wait and see what happens.

I normally don't recommend gray market because many keys there are stolen, but fuck it this is Microsoft. G2A or Kinguin?

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

Like I explained earlier, the setting might appear to be disabled, but they will not actually have any effect. Are you sure you are on the correct version of Windows 10 Pro, and that the group policies (not just any group policy, the ones that says they can only be applied to Educational/server/enterprise) actually have any effect?
