PSU Tier List [OLD]

Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

The new PSU Tier List can be found here:

Personally I want to hear about that super PSU we saw at whatever show it was that took 9000 Japanese engineers 1000 centuries to design (or something like that iirc :P)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Hey guys, any news of Seasonic's new budget units?

Eco Plus seem to be dropped (if the specification of RealHardTechX was correct, it doesn't look to be independent / DC-DC regulated. They could have been based on the ST platform where it's still group-regulated as the 12V and 5V share the same output choke but the 3.3V is generated from the 12V rail via DC-DC).

Instead of Eco Plus, they are releasing Core and Core+ instead.

"...this will be a new platform and we will give more information about it as soon as this new series will be ready. You can expect a modern platform for 2017."

Since it's a new, more modern platform, they probably had finally decide to upgrade from the old, double forward + group-regulated design to a DC-DC regulated design which will better compete with units like the new Corsair CXM, Antec VPF, Cooler Master GM, etc.

There are a few other industry affilates on the forums that I've run into every now and again, and honestly....I really dislike those that just defend their company or strictly speak facts. This isn't XXXX company's support line/forum. IMHO industry affiliates should act the same way as everyone else just with extra knowledge pertaining to a specific subject/field/company (i.e. you can be your own source regarding anything Vivo).

I really like how JonnyGuru acts on the forum, he doesn't recommend products (I guess to remove bias) and states stuff as is, even if it isn't Corsair PSUs.

He should probably also get an industry affiliate badge.

From what I could fine, probably would peg it somewhere around Tier 4, maybe 5.

I do this on company time though, so it's probably best if I mostly stick to helping when VIVO products are concerned, although I may still come in now and then to help with other things. :)

Exactly. If I was gonna have a beer with an industry affiliate, Vivo's it is. Though it'd help if I was of age. Well if he flies me to Germany that's not a problem.

Who needs beer when you can make an endless supply of COTTON CANDY!? https://vivo-us.com/collections/miscellaneous/products/candy-v001

(Yeah, it's random, but it's been a successful product)

yeah, they can slap their name onto 50 logisys units and send them to you.

Then you sue them for burning down the neighborhood and get them to send you 500 PSUs.

We'd need confirmation of your address to do that.  OOPS, it burned down after the first 50, so I guess we can't send those extra 500. :P

No, the Corsair VS*50 is based on the CWT GPM platform, while these new VS*00 models are manufactured by HEC.

Hello, I am wonder how does the Antec Truepower quattro 1200w stacks up. I am wondering if I should replace it or continue to use for a Kaby lake build. Thanks!

No need but u may need more lower wattage psu.

Only titan xp in 8way sli will consume that much of power.

But...a titan XP on average uses around 220W of power underload...if you tried powering 8 Titan XPs with a single 1.2kW PSU, its OPP/OCP will trigger...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I have had it for 6 years now. If it works, I will save the funds towards other parts for the build. Thanks!

Sounds about right :P

A single GTX480 system can draw 450-500watts so...4 GTX 480s themselves can probably draw something like 1.1kW...

I wasn't taking it seriously tho...

I was seeing roughly 1.3kW from the wall if I recall correctly.

Looks like it with some modification (like moving the protection IC to a daughter board). Also, the EVGA W1 doesn't have a heatsink on the bridge rectifier which Corsair had it blown up at full load, so they requested that will have a heatsink on theirs now. I would also like to assume that Corsair will do a little better job at ensuring a more consistent level of quality control (for example, it was discovered that the EVGA 600B model had the MOV removed from specification despite review samples had it originally).

Should be fine, it's a high-capacity unit by Enhance and had OK reviews. Use it til it dies :D

Why would someone need a lower watt PSU? You might strike a bit higher efficiency numbers, but any computer can run on a 1200W

Cause they cost a lot and if u dont need zero desible fan mode, etc its just a waste of money right?

but if someone already has it then yeah no need.

Right no need to replace unless it's a Diablotek "1200W"
