We have had an industry insider tell us that NVIDIA has decided against releasing the 3GB variant of the GeForce GTX 1060, and instead it is all steam ahead with the standard 6GB variant. NVIDIA will instead release the GeForce GTX 1050 in December with 3GB of RAM

3 GB memory variant GPU comes with the cut down GP106-300-A1 core while the 6 GB variant features the GP106-400-A1 SKU.

Estimated that the card will tackle the Radeon RX 470 which is AMD’s $149 US solution that features the cut down Polaris 10 GPU with 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM.

Rumored specs & pricing info :

  • CUDA Cores   :   1152
  • TDP                  :  100W
  • GPU Core        : GP106
  • Power Draw      : 1x  6-Pin Power
  • Suggested MSRP : $149 ~ 199 USD
  • S.L.I                 :  Enabled
  • Release date : Somewhere around August   December apparently

PS: Could Be a 1050 variant as i don't think there would be version of the same horsepower GPU with difference in VRAM alone , bottom line these kinda rumors always match a GPU variant coming out later, t's been the case for the last few years

1280 to 1152 cuda cores it seems too close to be the 1050 unless they do the same thing they did last time with the 950 and 960

Well if they want to have it perform like a 970 and the 1060 performs like a 980, then the difference will be about 10%, the difference between these two is 11% (based on core count) so that may be the plan

Pretty sure that would be the 1050 ti , with the 1050 having around 800 shaders .

They only release ti models on the top end, and where there are holes in performance or price ranges, I expect there will be a 1060ti if the hole between the 1060 and 1070 is as large in price and performance as it appears, but a 1050ti doesn't make sense if this is the 1050

Isn't the normal 1060 supposed to be like $250?  No way they'd knock off $50 or $100 just for 3 GB of RAM.  Also, this card would be useless.

It's likely the 1050, wccftech is just being retarded as usual.

i don't think it matters . The thing is , this card is just too close in performance to the 1060 . Unless they have MUCH better yields than they used to ( which they have shown no sign of ,)  , they're bound to have a load of gp106 chips with less than 1000 cores working . If the last generations of cards are of any indication , i would expect the 1050 to have ~800 cores .

Sounds like the GTX 1050.

Doesn't make sense reduce RAM, cores, lower the price and still call it the 1060.

Same.

Also, why would the 1060 not have SLI but the 1050 would?

well , unless they pull a gtx 660 ti ( which they won't ) , the 192 bit bus of gp 106 only allows for 1.5gb , 3gb  and 6gb

It's most likely gonna be the GTX 1050. I don't think that, aside from the GT 555M, Nvidia's released multiple variants of the same chip with varying core counts.

The 970's performance is crippled in mirrors edge catalyst using hyper settings because it doesn't have enough vram and this is supposed to replace the 970.

This is confusing if it is true.

I doubt it however because I don't think that NVIDIA would be as dumb as to call this GTX 1060 as well if it has even slightly different GPU.

As everyone else said, this will most likely be 1050ti.

Yeah, because you buy a $200 GPU to play games at max settings.
