Considering that it cost more than the X5450 when new because of it being binned for lower power consumption, it should be. I intend to have it running at 4GHz with daily use.

Finished my new system today (well, only the mobo, ram, and cpu are new).

 

Overclocked to 4ghz at 1.4v and got the RAM at 2933MHz. Before overclock, the score was 1260 or so, so I'd say the OC definitely brought an improvement. :)

Its kind of scary seeing a 14nm R5 1600X requiring a similar voltage for 4GHz as my 45nm Xeon X5450.

My previous CPU was a FX-8150 that I overclocked to 4.3GHz and had to stop overclocking further because my Noctua NH-U14S could no longer keep it from overheating. After that, 1.4v is a walk in the park. :D

Well I'll be benching as soon as it arrives. And the QX6850 will be put away to rarely see the light of day as the cache in the die which also runs 10oC hotter is damaged.
