the biggest issue is when i put a hd5970 in istead of a 6990 in and wonder why its not very fast, then i try flash a 6990 onto the 5970 before i realise i put the wrong card in.

An observation I made while running some tests on my 5960x now that I got it up and running again.  

 

We shouldn't be comparing scores from the newest Cinebench R15 with those of the older version.  The newer one gives higher scores then the old at the same clocks.

i always use the old one. i have 1 copy that i have pt everywhere from when it came out.

Why would you use the old one if your competitors on HWBOT are probably using the new?

Nope.  I did improve, but it turns out that the newer version scores higher, but is also harder.  This in turn makes it harder to run at a higher clock speed.  Basically, it's a wash.  Hope that makes sense.

 

I'm still working on it.

Yeah, I forgot to drop it from when I was trying even higher clock speeds.

no. ProKoN sent me just over 6KG of 775 and 1156 cpu's and this was just one i tested on air and never got round to testing on phase until now.

since that kept the CCX's parallel I would expect only a  8(high cache and PCIe), 12 and 16 core part to keep it balanced. (2+2+2+2, 3+3+3+3, 4+4+4+4)
