From my new system "The Storm". I'd say it's worthy for going up against 3D Rendering workloads. What do you think?

 

EDIT: Just noticed that if you're wondering, the CPU frequency is still stock at 3.5 GHz, it's downclocking like that because the CPU isn't doing anything demanding right now, therefore saving me some power that would have otherwise been wasted.

Congrats on "The Storm"   One day I'll actually name one of my builds.

 

You're R15 score can improve a lot.  There are 4 core processors with mild overclocks scoring 950+ and even a 1000+ on ambient cooling methods.  Give some thought to overclocking that 6 core.  Sure you can render, but why not do it faster?  

 

"The Ultimate gaming experience" was one of the objectives outlined in your build log.  A much higher clock speed will help that as well.  Haswell-E, especially latter batches, overclocks very well.

 

Most of the folks in this thread are very familiar with Intel SpeedStep, but thanks for breaking that one down for us.    If you want to improve your score right off the bat without overclocking, set your Power Options to High Performance and set the priority of Cinebech to realtime within the Task Manager.  Those two things alone will get you well over 1000cb.

Thanks. I'm right now in the process of getting Windows 10. After that, I'll go and grab Intel XTU so I can stress test the CPU at stock to evaluate both the stock settings for stability and see how much thermal headroom I've got to play around with. After that, then I'll go and dial in the overclock because there's a lot of free performance ready to be tapped in to

I'd add RealBench, OCCT, and AIDA64 to your list of software available for verifing your stability.

 

If you are on a custom loop, which I believe you are (I didn't read your entire build log), you should be able to take that chip as high as it will go on ambient cooling.

 

The guide that I attached is a great place to start for Haswell-E.  Despite it being written for a 5960x, it applies to all Haswell-E chips.  You'll want to fine tune for your specific CPU, but it's a starting point.

I'm not for now in the meantime. After the Fall semester, I have custom cables, RAM and GPU upgrades, plus a 4K monitor already planned out. After the Spring semester (assuming I am still going to community college), I plan on upgrading the GPUs again (selling off the 1080s or the 1080 Ti or Titan P (assuming the other two are reasonably priced compared to two 1080s)), and I will be getting a dual loop setup, featuring nickel-plated copper pipes (Yes, I am stepping up to the challenge of working with metal pipes and not acrylic/PETG ). And that'll be it.

 

I have no plans on selling off the CPU and motehrboard, because CPU speed increases, are not all that exciting IMO (like @Slick said), and with an overclock, it'll last me a long time, if the motherboard doesn't blow

After I overclocked the 5930K to 4.0 GHz:

Intel SpeedStep is still enabled for power savings reasons while at the desktop or doing light things (internet browsing)

 

But I have yet to hit the max limit on air

After hitting 4.4 GHz, this thing started to ride on the 80º C range (and during stress testing, it hit as high as 91º C), I had to stop, as I wasn't getting any further on air.  Will have to go with a more modest clock to keep temps low, as you can see here:

Weird, my Q6600 was stable at 4.0 Ghz with a Zalman 9700 LED

 

Had it clocked at 3.6 24/7 and its sat at 3.4 almost 10 years later in my GFs Dad's PC.

Got a good chip! What voltage? Also I'm doing this upstairs in a hot room during the summer so that's probably not helping My Q6600 was kind of crap also when it came to overclocking.... wait till you see my X6800
