1.7V and it hits 5.2GHz, and both of my E6500K won't go higher than 4.4GHz at 2.2V. *sigh*

there's a correlation between temperature and electrical resistance, by lowering temp you're trying to get the silicone to as close to being a superconductor as you can.

I was looking at mobos on Newegg, amazon and ebay and can't seem to find the Asrock OC Formula USB 3.1(This has the OC Socket on it) nor a Brand new in box SOC Champion. I have a thing about buying used mobo's personally. I really don't want to drop the 480$ on the RVE so I have been thinking about the X99A XPower(AFAIK this has the OC Scoket on it) this is cheaper and has the OC Socket on it and still follows the MSI OC Line which I've been using for a while now with my Z87 XPower so it seemed on best for me to stick with a line I've gotten used to using for benching.

 

What would you guys do?

I would go with MSI because I have had a good track record with them (7950 and 780Ti) and because you have used them. Also because ASUS went downhill after Z77. And with the RVE you basically get no warranty.

well that was some serious lurking you've been doing! where have you been, i haven't seen you post anything in ages? 

 

Not really lurking. Got busy with work and I stayed away for a while after due to the forum breach. Now that my work involves using my computer I cant really do any high OCs as I cant afford to replace hardware right now.

like harry said, cpu's scale miles better under cold. it would only do 4.74ghz on air on 1.65v, but under phase it was getting around 5.1ghz

the soc champion is the best board so the best thing to do is wait till somewhere has it in stock or buy a second hand one.

Looks to be a solid board just gah, the red color overused so much but for when someone like me doesn't want to get any used Mobo's Gotta play with what you can get.
