I'm trying to get her to 3.5 again but she is fighting me, crashed twice, I'll see if 3.49GHz is achievable but if it crashes again then I'll call it a night

Don't really want to f**k this up

who had 1.4v on a haswell? loads of people can run amd's and sandy on 1.4v because they don't run as hot. can you not get 4.4ghz with 1.3v?

Ahh I see. I think I saw a 3570k @ 1.4v.

I get 4.4 at around 1.285V. It gets VERY hot. Reaching 90 at times. (h100i)

1.4 is suicide for Haswell. better have some LN2 if you're going to go any higher than 1.35

Nothing to be ashamed of though, Sandy Bridge is probably the best thing Intel has ever made :)

sandy bridge is the best. i don't think you'll kill it because it won't get hot or be using much voltage. it will just not be stable at that oc.  :(

you must have a fairly bad chip. haswell is very hit and miss with the temps and overclocks  :( . its not worth it if your going over 85c even in benches.

the max stable blck i could hit was 107.8 = 3550MHz anything higher and she would shit the bed. on stock volts. adding more volts never helped me get any further. im sure i killed all background processes, ensured all 4 threads rendered and ran the benchmark a few times so im confident the result is accurate.

i was having some HDD issues at the time that  i thought was related to the bclk so i dropped it back only to find out a recertified  seagate HDD was the cause of my issues

I almost broke my computer trying to push it as hard as I can. I even had a run at 812 with a higher freq that froze on the second run. If I add any more voltage it stops due to temps. I need to fix my fan setup alittle bit which I will be doing soon. Until then first LTT 8350 to reach 800+ on R15?

Yeah the die shrinks are getting worse and worse. :( I got lucky and can match a Sandy Bridge and I am happy that I can even do that. My chip also probably runs hotter then a 5ghz plus Sandy and the Sandy's will probably last longer, unless you go with dual to triple rad water on the Haswell, which makes the entire thing stupid to begin with. What uses more energy?  A triple rad on a Haswell or a evo 212 on a Sandy. The cooling requirements on Haswell make the whole energy savings pointless.

very true. it is very much a lottery with haswell there about about the same number of winners as well. i've only seen 3 haswells over 5ghz and one of those was under ln2

what amd where you running on? the fastest 8 core amd i've found that isn't on ln2 on ocuk was @5.4ghz on 1.575v according to there cpuz, that could be 1.6v in the bios with vdroop and scored 856 on a crosshair v formula.

its probably the limit of your board and cpu. your still the fastest i3 for now

they are very slow. 4.9ghz isn't bad for a ud5. the extra power phases on the crosshair v formula and ud7 do give them that bit extra. @ALXAndy

I played around with it alittle bit. I had SO... many runs that started good but it wouldn't make it through.

So I did this:

51GhzR15_zpsd5d0cd3e.jpg

Then I did a hailmary and this one worked:

5145GhzR15_zpseb6e76d8.jpg

I have tried 5.2, 5.21, 5.22, 5.3, and even a run for 5,380 but none worked. I need to bring temps down to make a full run at the higher voltages needed for 5.2Ghz or higher.

I even had my 1866 ram running at 2239 Mhz... Talk about overclocking.....lol

well you can try it. give it 0.025 more v and try. intel cpu's don't like base clock ocing, what is your base clock at at the moment the max is normally around 106, but i have seen some go to 108. if it doesn't work then you might have to take the cmos battery out so that it doesn't save the settings.

Baseclock at the moment is just the stock 100MHz, also I'm not sure were you do the voltage but to be honest I'm not really keen on playing around with it, I'm happy she broke the 300cb mark and crapped over its successor lol, I'm proud of the little SB :)

pc's can be like that sometimes. you can spend hours trying to get a clock and not get it, then a couple of days later you try again and do it within like 20mins.

Thanks. Honestly IDK. Once I put 1.525 volts in the bios I stopped checking. LOL

I am going to try to make 1 or 2 more runs before the night is out but I have brought everything to its knees and now I am fighting several things at once.

have you tried running it single thread. if you go on file in the top right and go on advanced benchmark then you can run the test single thread. you would be the fastest amd single and multi thread then.
