Here is my new 24/7. 912 Multicore, 179 single core. 61.51 GPU (GTX 260). Added a pull fan on the evo 212 and temps dropped to safe 24/7 temps. Tested them all in a row for ya. Score was a bit higher. No idea if temps had to do with it, or because I didn't have skype on and stuff lol. 

 

Thanks again for this thread. My lazy butt, wouldn't have bothered to put a second fan on the evo (had a 120mm from an old case) if I didn't decide to push. Would test higher voltage for ya, but need this chip to last and obviously I need a better video card.

 

In addition the second fan on the evo keeps things quiet in games. No more ramping up to 100 percent and sounding like a turbine engine, and that was at lower GHz. 

 

well done. that gtx 260 has score quite well considering its age. i've updated all the scores on the google doc now

this is the 2nd best i managed. my run at 3.92ghz was faster as you can see on the bottom left because i had to lower the multiplier on the ram to get it to run @4ghz

its nice that your unlocks can you oc it further on a single core?. mine didn't last time i tried. i will try and beat your with one core but this is going to be tricky.

That was the highest I could get it to go and be stable. And the OC actually worked on both cores.

You are lucky to be able to unlock the other core and overclock as well. I'm going to try a couple of different sticks of ram to see if i can get any more out of this cpu. Then once i've done that i'm going to sell it on ebay and get a different one. I would like to have one that unlocks to dual core.

Got cache to 4000 stable (not that big a jump). 4100 not stable (results swung wildly and I didn't bother testing it in AIDA) and this being a VERY budget z87 (it was less then free with deal I got) I can't get any higher on the minor speed increases. Looks like this is best I can do and I am finally done tweaking my machine. Looks like I made out pretty good this Xmas. Just need the video card and SSD now.

nice one. you've moved up places on all the charts for your cpu. your multi thread score is nearly in the top 10 now!

also i got another point, but if i go up just 1mhz more on the base clock i get a bsod. its probably the limit of the ram

sorry about that. the graphics test is very cpu limited as i think it only uses 1 or 2 cores. overclocking your cpu more makes a massive difference compared with overclocking the card.

Tbh I have the 1 year intel tuning plan, so I may literally just oc til it blows up, or til the 2 480 rads cant handle it LOL (that is if I get enough money for christmas )

well i think you might reach voltage death before it overheats with 2X480 rads. i would be interested to see what it would do on 1.8v, if it ever gets that far

you going to try overclocking it? it should be easy to get it to 4.4ghz with a hyper 212 in push pull.

At this point I think Sandy just passed the celeron 300a and Exxxx's, Qxxxx's in lore for price/performance and especially longevity. Who would have thought their 2600k would beat out low clocking chips two generations past them in rendering. Crazy stuff. That is like a grand in MB/CPU's you haven't had to buy if paying full retail and going with a nice MB that people usually spring for.

 

My god. People with ROG boards and a dud Haswell must want to rage seeing these Sandy's top them. I would lol. Wish they had vegas betting on Intel's next series. My money is on Sandy still being on top of the low clockers lol.

good stuff. make sure you get those fans on the h100i ramped up before you go 5ghz+

Current settings before the overclocking begins, just got to crank my NF-F12's up and Im going past 5Ghz

@5Ghz now im moving up to 5.2 is my goal don't have much more room for overclocking im seeing around 65-70C @load
