Just got a 746 with a 8350 @5.1Ghz Sadly I can't overclock anymore motherboard will not allow anymore voltage, and the VRM is causing throttling so I have the stock h100i fans blowing at it too keep it cool, I had one throttle on that run going to try again il keep posted on results

nice voltage your running there B) . have you tried clicking on file and advance benchmark in the top left so that you can get a single thread score, it will take a bit longer but with your clock speed you should get the highest single thread amd score by a fair bit. also you could try dropping the multiplier and using the base clock to over to the same speed because that will make the ram a bit faster as well which could make your score a bit higher.

The voltage is so high the the VRM were overheating, just realized at 4.8Ghz they were overheating and throttling so I've mounted some fans to blow on the VRM heatsink too cool it an no more throttling and bumped up to 5Ghz again

TBf i'm impressed to seethat your board is still functioning and hasn't melted xD. You really should get a crosshair v formula or gigabyte ud7 so your get nice clean power at those kind of voltages. you could also try lowering the ambient temperature by opening a window and turning off any heaters or radiators in the room. I doubt you'll get cold with a 5ghz 83350 in the room.

Yeah it gets pretty warm in the basement that im in with the PC heating the room, personally I don't care enough if she melts or dies, I know that sounds silly but I am going to be upgrading to intel in the near future I have a buddy with a 4770k and he gets 10fps or so in BF4 more then me, also gets a lot better render times. If she dies, she dies but Its okay she's been a great CPU and would recommend it to anyone on a budget. I have pretty good feeling its going to have no problems.

Sandy Bridge baby :) also she isn't overclocked, I did run it at 3.46GHz for quite a while, I wonder how much it'll increase if I took it back there

EDIT: When I get back I'm going to take it back up to 3.46GHz and see what it scores, this doesn't need to be added on the list as I won't be keeping it OC'ed this time but will post the screenshot here

well the list is just the highest scores not a 24/7 clock. i think quite a few people would score a lot lower if it was 24/7 clocks :) . it will be interesting to see what an oc'ed i3 can do.

I've done it and I have to say that I'm quite impressed, I think I did well to get this chip, the GPU increased though I haven't messed about with it but the Core i3 I OC'ed to 3.48GHz, I wouldn't dare go higher this time because about 3 months ago I was curious to see what she could do and got a clock of 3.505GHz but froze up on me lol

nice one. that 180mhz just got you over the 300cb mark. it also means your above all the amd cpu's single thread.  :D the gpu score increases because the gpu benchmark is very cpu heavy because it only uses a single core, thats why a haswell i5 with a gtx 580 can beat a 2600k with 2x680's

indeed you have. what cooling do you have on it. there are a couple of people who only managed 4.3-4.5ghz which i think they could beat quite easily get higher clocks but they might be limited by cooling

I would love to see what this would be capable at 4.5GHz+, I think it would be quite interesting

Yea, it is damn annoying but I was having a chat/argument over that with someone a while ago and they said that it would bridge the gap to the Core i5's which I don't think matters, the Core i5 performs pretty much the same as the Core i7 in games but that didn't stop them.

well, with the move to better multithread support in games, it doesn't make a lot of sense in my opinion to have a dual core unlocked part at this point. a few years ago? Hell yeah, that would have been great at the launch of Sandy, but moving forward it makes little sense for Intel to change strategies, it would however be cool if they did.

i5 has unlocked SKU's because the hyperthreading makes no difference in most games, so clock speed is more important I suppose. IDK it's Intel, nothing has to make sense.
