Idk if it will even work in the rampage tbh the commando is normally better for those older chips.

Yeah bought it other day. It was £10 less than the 5820k I sent back to Amazon and It said in the ad it was j batch so I thought it would be a decent overclocker.

The core is really strong, I can run 4.9ghz 1.36v very stable but the extra few mhz need a lot more volts. Seems a really nice chip other than the cache which is 200-300mhz slower than  I wanted really. Once it gets cold outside, I'll set up on the table outside and see of I can get 1.45-1.5v going through it :P hopefully I can squeeze 5ghz and nudge over 2k. Might take it cold as well but depends if I can get a board as soc champions have a bad habit of dying :P

Only had a go with it today though so need to test which 3d benches it can do better than  the 6950x. I think vantage and 3d11 will be very close. 6950x will probably win in firestrike and 5960x will win in unigine heaven.

how do you bin these chips? can you tell which can do 8g on phase or do you have to test on ln2?

This one was already binned by someone and I got it in a trade. It cold bugs in the -30's so a SS phase is almost a must for binning if they are all like this. I had to unplug the cooler when at low voltage for about 10sec to post. Not an expert on these so I can't really help.

Generally I bin all my chips on phase and shoot for passing Pifast and CB2003 as quick tests before moving higher then fine tune when i can't go up 50-100MHz after trying both small and large jumps in voltage higher and lower than last successful test. I test only cold because I have a few air gods that really sucked compared to "lottery losers" on ambient cooling when took to low temps.
