GTX 1080 Ti Pricing Rumors

With the new GTX 1080 being released, I decided to build another PC for myself, haven't done one in a while, and this time I decided to go with 4k. I have never really experienced 4k gaming at its finest. It does seem like the 1080 is capable of 4k, but it still isn't enough for 60fps 4k on ultra settings. I decided that I'll need to wait for the 1080 Ti for true 4k gaming. I started planning out some of the parts for the build, http://pcpartpicker.com/list/kDXJVY. I have a budget of around $2,600 (with monitor). Finally the golden question, what will the 1080 Ti be priced at? I'm assuming the card will be $700 MSRP and $800 FE. I got these prices by looking at the 1080 and 1070 pricing. They seem to be $50-60 more than their older counterparts. The GTX 980 was $550 when it was announced, the the 1080 MSRP is $600. It's about $50 more. (this is also true with the 1070). The 980 Ti was $650 when it was released, so I assume the 1080 Ti will be $700 MSRP, and $800 FE. Do you guys agree with the pricing I have come up with? Or do you have your own thoughts. Please share them!

If you are planning buying them before they sell out (2 minutes) then yes. If not, expect anything from 50-800 dollars more.

I don't plan on buying it as soon as they are released (like 2 months after).

Way to early to be talking prices. I reckon the price is going to be ridiculous.

 

(This is in Aussie dollars) The 980 came out at about $800 and the 980Ti came out at about $1200 and now the 1080 costs about $1200, so you can only imagine what the price of a 1080Ti is going to be...

I think $700-750 will be a good ballpark but keep in mind this is all speculation, we don't even have confirmation there will be a 1080TI!

I'm almost sure their will be. Nvidia has never failed to release a Ti version of their flagship cards. (starting from the 7's)

The 780TI was the first "80" TI. They followed up with the 980TI but before that the TI was saved for the lower-end refreshes. I agree we'll likely see it, especially seeing how little the performance gap is between the 980TI and the 1080.

Looks similar to my 6700k build. Except I got the 1080 SLI, the Ti isn't something I'll need anyway. I'm fine with my 1080 pair for a while.

I can't afford 1080 SLI lol, but seems like a great build you got going.

Yea I tend to upgrade my PC alot. 

I've got 64gb of ram too. I edit videos here and there. Plus having a pretty high spec'd build makes it easier to sell. I'll probably jump on Kaby Lake when it comes out.

Good for you! I can only afford to upgrade every 4 or 5 years (except my GPU)

BTW, what 1080's are you using? And how much power are they consuming with SLI? I never ran SLI. People say your'e gonna need 1000w PSU for it.

The 1080 will most likely fall in price and so will all the other Nvidia cards when the 1080ti launched, so they stay competitive and so the new card seems like a good value.

 

I remember when I was looking at building the PC I have now I saw the 780 and was almost ready to go out and buy it, but then I hear rumors about the 780ti, so I waited and when the 780ti launched you could get it for the same price as the 780 was 6 months back so I bought the 780ti and the 780, 770 and the 760 all went down a little in price.

Yes they have. The 780 Ti and 980 Ti were the first "Ti" flagships.

They started the x80 ti when they stopped making dual-GPU cards (I can't remember if there was a 680ti, but I don't think there was).

Man I wouldn't even think of 4k without getting a GSync or FreeSync monitor.

Why's that? Just use VSync. It's not like most GPU's are gonna exceed 55-60fps. (you can always lock the FPS at 60 as well).

How are you going to lock to 60 fps with one gpu? A 1080 can't come close to that at 4k medium in Witcher 3.

 

 

Maybe the new Titan with it's ~35% or so gain typically seen over the full mid die (in this case 1080) would get there at 4k medium, but what happens when the next really graphically intensive game comes out? You're going to drop to low to get 60 fps?

Jay saw screen tearing at 4K under 60fps. I get in trouble for saying this but once you use a GSYNC monitor you never want to use anything else.

If it isn't 40% faster when OCed then a 980ti not worth it
