Is the Privacy Issue on Windows 10 Really that Severe or is it just Exaggeration

AssassinUni

I have been watching videos about Windows 10 having privacy issues and many Youtubers like Nerdgasm have been saying that it snoops on you and we should disable all of the options to keep privacy. I personally tried this and my Windows Store now does not let me use my Microsoft Account to sign in only a work or school account and I have to restore the system to use it. Now I am wondering, is the privacy issue that serious until my personal information is disclosed or it is all just exaggeration? Lemme know what you guys think. I know I'm late on this topic and sorry for the long post.

Since you can disable most of it with 2 .bat files, it's fine in my opinion

Exaggeration imo. I was able to fully setup my system without any online Microsoft nonsense, and deselecting all the extra features hidden behind that 'express' setup screen. The only thing I use my MS account for is Groove Music, so it syncs the songs and playlists on my computer with my Android.

Most of it is tinfoil hat neckbeards who worry about MS tracking them. IMO W10 is a rock solid OS. Nerdgasm complains, but actually runs 10 himself.

Just disable the tracking as said above.

I also think it's fine before watching the videos and so far nothing has gone wrong when using it so I don't understand why people say it's very serious.

If you use Android, then you'll be relieved to know that its not that bad.

Honestly, most of the data they keep is meta data and really doesn't have any intelligence behind it.  Although that doesn't mean in the future they couldn't do something with it.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I agree. Up to date, I have never had any issues regarding incompatabilities on most of my apps and games so people are just exaggerating.

It's definitely an exaggeration. Even Windows 8.1 had nearly the same settings during the setup process and one bat an eye.

But I don't even care about it. I don't really keep files on my PC that I consider too personal either so..the only thing people can see that are watching me is which porn site I visit the most, what fetishes I have and stuff. That must very interesting : ))

Oh by the way those are just buttons that you can turn off. Who knows if you really turn those options off? I mean, I can easily make a form application, put a button on it and a label and write something like "In order to turn these features off, press the button" then the user presses but nothing happens as I didn't write anything to the button click event. I don't really trust Microsoft.

So you're saying you should only worry about your privacy if you have something to hide?

That's completely idiotic. Give me all of your passwords then....I just want to have a look, and since you don't have nothing to hide you shouldn't worry about it right?

Also, it has been proven that even if you disable all of the privacy settings in windows 10, the OS still sends information about you to Microsoft....

Depends on how you look at it.

Basicly yes its realy that bad, you cant disable it all.

This is because Windows10 basicly isnt a fully standalone OS anymore,

its a cloud based OS, which basicly runs on MS online services.

Disable all the stuff would make the OS pretty much unusable.

Tools like antibeacon and such kind of crap, are basicly pretty useless.

MS owns a gazillion of those tracking domains, well good luck with blocking them all.

A couple of people have allready done some deep research into this, including myself.

Disabling all the possible spying and telemetry tracking option i could possibly find, using several guides etc etc.

But as soon as we start to monitor our network traffic more closely, we allready see, that whatever application you open, whatever search query you give in the search box, if you open the photo application, etc etc.

It just keeps sending that data to MS tracking domains.

Nomatter how much entries you add to the hostfile.

Like i said, MS probably owns a gazillion tracking domains.

Next to that some of the tracking and stuff is basicly hardcoded in the OS and you cannot disable it.

They keep collecting as much data as they can from you, wenn you use the OS.

But that is what you basicly agree with, wenn you agree with the EULA to install Windows10.

I dont say that all the data collecting is a bad thing, in fact some of the telemetry tracking they do, is for the purpose of improving the product, and thats not a bad thing.

However the data collecting they do, goes far beyhond just usefull data to improve the product.

And thats a bad thing.

I personaly dont have any issues with MS collecting all the date on users that have upgraded for "free".

But i do have a problem with the data collections they do on users who pay for their OS.

And still not having a fair choice of what to share and what not.

MS wants to collect as much data as possible on their users, because they can and will bank on it.

And you cant blame them for doing so, because every large internet company does so.

But all the sheninigans asside, Windows10 on its own isnt a bad OS.

Its just not for me yet.

If Vulkan is going to be a succes, then i will most likely never upgrade to Windows10, because then there are better alternatives.
