Past generations of EVGA cards have welcomed a long list of options for those who want a basic no-nonsense GPU to enthusiasts with some additional cash to burn and this one is no different. There are two reference-clocked graphics cards, one with a standard blower-style cooler at $609 and another for $619 which has EVGA’s new ACX 3.0 cooler. The $649 GTX 1080 Superclocked ACX 3.0 we’re reviewing today is their mid-tier card and will likely prove to be the most popular since the FTW goes for some $30 more and doesn’t offer substantially higher frequencies. What the FTW does have however is a boatload of other features like fully controllable RGB lighting, dual BIOS chips, an upgraded 10-phase PWM, potentially higher overclocking headroom and dual 8-pin power connectors. Despite boasting all of these expanded capabilities, you’ll notice that all of these EVGA GPUs are actually priced well below NVIDIA’s Founders Edition.

In other tests on their site it doesn't have this issue

Maybe it's the 4x MSAA using too much memory and capping the 4 GB on Fury X...

I seen the GPU get maxxed out in VRAM but never stutter

the big fat bandwidth is helping a lot but prob thermal issues i guess

The Fury X has no thermal issues thanks to CLC...

Looks much better than ASUS, MSI or Gigabyte imo. And those are supposed to be top players when it comes to making custom design GPU PCB and cooling. This whole release looks like bunch of kids toys. I would not mind this if we were looking at GT class products but for top tier cards? Come on...

EVGA so far is the only one winning due to their somewhat conservative design. RGB LEDs should be reasonably well implemented as well judging from positioning of white ones in SC edition.

A simple typo, but an easy one to make. EVGA has sold cards in the past like the 970 that were SSC (super superclocked)

To be honest if this guy goes through and buys my matrix 980 ti, I'll buy one just so I can drool on it and the pretty colors :x

I think I might get the classified but IDK when it's coming out, I keep seeing it's been announced but no official release.  I tried tweeting at EVGA Jacob but he ignored me  :'(  I guess the classified is supposed to have that same style of RGB LED as the FTW card

Yea it seems hype and demand is destroying the supply with a 1-2 punch :(

The prefer the minimalist, non-gamery look of the last generation ACX.

You called that "conservative"?! Look at that bling bling, mesh on top of mesh, Bolts on the meshes and lots of cutouts. :o

These are proper conservative, minimalist cards:

Then why wouldn't the 970 be hit even harder?  It's just a weird result that they probably should have caught.  But it is nice to see the Fury X beating the 980ti more often.

1080 is just out of my price range right now.  If I can overclock a 480 to get near 1070 stock results, that's good enough for me.  I'm on a 1080p monitor, and was planning on upgrading to 1440p soon. But then again, It looks like on Far Cry 4, GTA V and others, only the 1080 is able to get 1440p60 on ultra. Even that beast of a card had dips to the 50's. So maybe I might stick with 1080p and just upgrade to a 490X/1080ti and 1440p monitor in 6 months or so.

On the FuryX

I'm asking what is the issue with the odd results but it looks like it just hates msaa at x4 on those settings at 4k

Will update with an answer when I get one. It could be difference from a patch or driver but I'll update when I find out.
