Where are you getting it that cheap? I'm looking $230-$250 for either 4*4 or 2*8.

I just checked what I payed for my 2*8gb 1600mhz corsair vengeance kit, in February it was $74.99, currently, $148.68. I'm glad I started out with 16gb. But RAM prices had been going up considerably before the fire as well.

In need of an upgrade

Yes it went up because everyone thinks they need 16 gb of ram.

You only need more than 8GB of RAM when doing something beyond gaming. Gaming only really needs 8GB right now and 16GB if you want to be future proof (think, 5 years).

I want (not need) 32GB of RAM. Ultimate Futureproofing, plus I completely intend to be using Virtual machines. Lots of them. So yeah. Need lots of RAM. And when I am not doing that, RAMDisk.

The ram in my sig, I paid $116 for it back in Feb (and these are stock XMP profile settings). That same ram kit today is retailing for $164.99. Pretty sure that's a noticeable increase.
