you'd think they would based on how long they have had i7 as top of the line. 3 years may not seem like a long time, but in technology thats huge. just think about the advances we have made in cpu technology in the past three years.

Core i9 or Core i1 will never happen.

There is an Atom, Celeron, Pentium, i3, i5, i7, Xeon. And that is enough.

If you need more cores, buy a Xeon.

do you think intel is going to release the i9 cpu soon? I hope so. It would bring i7 and i5 cpu prices down.

You realise that there are new generations of i7?

the i7 is just a series, like a BMW 3 series, there are versions from 40 years ago and there are verisons now

As above I demonstrated with the BMW 3 series, its still a 3 series, there have been hundreds of versions since it came out 40 years ago

the current gen i7s REPLACE the previous gen, they are not sold along side

Like my i7 4770k  - not for sale anymore, you now get the 6700k, so the old ones just dissapear

Yes, but most of them will be outdated and from the last gen. There are already probably over 50 i7s out there, but for 99% of people only around 10 are relevant.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Due to the way SMT works that would be easy. Intel decided to have two because after that there aren't any bonuses iirc.
