I'm wondering the same, I've got an i5 4690K and Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, and tend to get 100-200fps, sometimes upwards of 300, but that's somewhat rare.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

100 is fine. Your monitor is most likely only 60hz refresh rate. Also wtf where have you seen a 600 fps score on minecraft?

Refresh rate has nothing to do with the frame rate in minecraft unless something such as V-Sync was enabled, but even then, it'd cap it at the monitor refresh rate, not above it.

Depending on the version, it's possible there's an FPS limit set, though for me, I have no FPS limit set, and have tried multiple minecraft versions.

Allocate more ram to the game, that's more often than not what holds a system back.

And if that doesn't improve fps, then its just the particular launcher or game stopping you, whether its heavily modded, is having to render an overly complex structure(s), etc.

Try allocating more RAM to MC through the launcher and downloading 64 bit java if you're running 32. Both helped a lot with my FPS.

75-115 is the range, it never hits refresh rate, its like 40 fps on 60hz

Then its just what you're doing, or rendering in game.

Even in vanilla I've built project that would tank fps. My last factions base with my team brought our fps down to near 20 in the grinder room due to all the hoppers, chests, sorting systems, and spawners; none of us have particularly weak rigs either, so its nothing to really worry about.

That's really strange, I get higher fps than that with my i5 4460 and GTX 760 and have less RAM allocated... I assume you have the latest GPU drivers? Check temps, probably not but it could be throttling. Forgot to disable your 128x128 resource pack maybe? xD

you can feel the difference when a frame is 16ms behind vs 2-4ms behind

since regular monitors dont have any kind of freesync or gsync, the monitor refresh rate is not synced with your FPS

so by having your fps higher than your refresh rate you can reduce the potential time between a frame being produced and you seeing it on a screen

because the entire point of a high refresh rate monitor is to be able to see 144fps...............................
