Posted May 11, 2016 Id choose a holiday over a PC any day. Its kind of a stupid question, holidays bring new experiences and new memories into your life, a PC, well its just a PC at the end of the day. Posted May 11, 2016 I had this choice couple times in the past. Chose hardware. For a computer enthusiast it's hard to justify spending your budget on something fun that will last couple weeks versus something fun that would last for years. I can always save up for a nice trip *after* I make sure I own the stuff I want first. ~ Specs bellow ~ Windows 10 Pro 64-bit [UEFI] CPU: Intel i7-5820k Haswell-E @ 4.5-4.7Ghz (1.366-1.431V) | CPU COOLER: Corsair H110 280mm AIO w/ 2x Noctua NF-A14 IPPC-2000 IP67 | RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 32Gb (8x4Gb) DDR4 @ 2666mhz CL15 | MOBO: MSI X99S Gaming 7 ATX | GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Gaming (flashed "X") @ 2138-2151Mhz (locked 1.093V) | PSU: Corsair HX850i 850W 80+ Platinum | SSD's: Samsung Pro 950 256Gb & Samsung Evo 850 500Gb | HDD: WD Black Series 6Tb + 3Tb | AUDIO: Realtek ALC1150 HD Audio | CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 | MONITOR: LG 34UC79G 34" 2560x1080p @144hz & BenQ XL2411Z 24" 1080p @144hz | SPEAKERS: Logitech Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System | HEADSET: Sennheiser GSP 350 | KEYBOARD: Corsair Strafe MX Cherry Red | MOUSE: Razer Deathadder Chroma | UPS: PowerWalker VI 2000 LCD Mac Pro 2,1 (flashed) OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan 64-bit (NAS, Plex, HTTP Server, Game Servers) [R.I.P] CPUs: 2x Intel Xeon X5365 @ 3.3Ghz (FSB OC) | RAM: OWC 16Gb (8x2Gb) ECC-FB DDR2 @ 1333mhz | GPU: AMD HD5870 (flashed) | HDDs: WD Black Series 3Tb, 2x WD Black Series 1Tb, WD Blue 2Tb | UPS: Fortron EP1000
 Posted May 11, 2016 Depend on the location. If it's somewhere I desperately want to go I will, otherwise I'd choose computer almost everytime. It will last me much longer than a vacation anyway, and since I enjoy travelling by myself, all I do when I travel is taking some picture and walking around places abit, which is interesting but I have done it so many time already so... Posted May 11, 2016 If it was solely my decision? Hardware. No question. I find holidays to generally be more stressful than they're worth. Unfortunately it isn't solely my decision. My wife likes holidays, and truth be told I like my daughter to see more of the world too so it usually ends up being a compromise.
 Posted May 11, 2016 Well for this summer I've just planned a week to visit a friend in England, short flight over and tickets to Coxcon are the only costs I have there. And some spending money. I really don't need much to enjoy a break. So yes, hardware every time. Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses. Posted May 11, 2016 i actually dont like going on holidays. i cannot explain why, but i'm much more happy sitting in my back yard or a familiar place with an iced tea than sitting on a tropical island with an excentric whatever the hell they serve there. EDIT: and for the price of a holiday i could turn my back yard into a tropical paradise.
 Posted May 11, 2016 I've been fortunate enough to do both this year, but it depends entirely on circumstance. i needed a new laptop for mobile work and that kind of takes priority over a holiday, since you need to work for the money to pay for the luxuries. if i had an adequate system and the option was a holiday with the other half or upgrade my system purely for leisure purposes id thentake the holiday. if for whatever reason i had no computer at all, and needed a full tech overhaul that would then last a few years i guess id have to skip the holiday for a year. I would even argue that it can be a great experience. But to me, the experience of seeing Harajuku for the first time was a much better experience than a new PC could bring me. I won't disagree, but I personally feel like getting all the material things you really want (or even need) in your life should be a priority, because they stay with you. Yes, your belongings own you in a way, but I can live with that. Vacation on the other hand, in my mind, can be postponed to a later date after making sure everything else is in check. I just can't justify a $1000-2000 trip that will last 2 weeks when for example I have an $500 old computer back home. Given that I'm both a technology enthusiast and that I need a computer for work, that is. ~ Specs bellow ~ Windows 10 Pro 64-bit [UEFI] CPU: Intel i7-5820k Haswell-E @ 4.5-4.7Ghz (1.366-1.431V) | CPU COOLER: Corsair H110 280mm AIO w/ 2x Noctua NF-A14 IPPC-2000 IP67 | RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 32Gb (8x4Gb) DDR4 @ 2666mhz CL15 | MOBO: MSI X99S Gaming 7 ATX | GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Gaming (flashed "X") @ 2138-2151Mhz (locked 1.093V) | PSU: Corsair HX850i 850W 80+ Platinum | SSD's: Samsung Pro 950 256Gb & Samsung Evo 850 500Gb | HDD: WD Black Series 6Tb + 3Tb | AUDIO: Realtek ALC1150 HD Audio | CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 | MONITOR: LG 34UC79G 34" 2560x1080p @144hz & BenQ XL2411Z 24" 1080p @144hz | SPEAKERS: Logitech Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System | HEADSET: Sennheiser GSP 350 | KEYBOARD: Corsair Strafe MX Cherry Red | MOUSE: Razer Deathadder Chroma | UPS: PowerWalker VI 2000 LCD Mac Pro 2,1 (flashed) OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan 64-bit (NAS, Plex, HTTP Server, Game Servers) [R.I.P] CPUs: 2x Intel Xeon X5365 @ 3.3Ghz (FSB OC) | RAM: OWC 16Gb (8x2Gb) ECC-FB DDR2 @ 1333mhz | GPU: AMD HD5870 (flashed) | HDDs: WD Black Series 3Tb, 2x WD Black Series 1Tb, WD Blue 2Tb | UPS: Fortron EP1000
