The 980ti is almost twice as strong as the 780 (980ti=970 SLI in many situations), and this card looks to be 15-25% stronger at stock over the 980ti...

No not really. There is no Maxwell 2.0 officially. The media called it that to separate it from 750, but the architecture is really the same, just more cores and all that.

Don't worry you will be fleeced again for the 1080 ti later in the year...which Nvidia will announce again as the fastest gaming card for the second time in the year.

 

Only difference this year is that they have ready made excuse, with HBM2 not being ready.....Even if it was they wouldn't change their plan....why fleece the enthusiasts once in a year when you can do it twice....

I was not expecting anything. I knew nVidia would pull off a dirty joke.

I know the 980Ti is faster than 780 but it cannot do GTAV 2160p60 or even 1440p60 with all settings maxed including the advanced settings.

The € is damn worthless than a sack of cat turd and we have to pay for almost 900 fucking euros in the Netherlands.

The cheapest is around 700 euros. The Europe sucked loads of poltician dicks.

That will not justify the price of the 980Ti's.

10300 is really nice on air (along with that sick 1540+ clock speed.) One of the benefits of not buying the first batches of products right?

 

I'd go back and actually push a single gpu again but not gonna take apart a loop to do it (water v air isn't fair with Maxwell's temp preferences)

So, just going to put this out there, but if you told someone in the days of first gen Fermi that OC'd Maxwell would push 1660+ on air (GM204) (or even the 1300s of OC'd Kepler), they would have laughed their ass off at you. 

 

This is only a small boost higher clocks and was done on a much improved processing node (and temperatures/voltages WERE the limiting factor on the 28nm node).

 

All the leaks we have had thus far were saying stock (NON-BOOST) clocks in the 1500s, so boosting into the 1800s is impressive, but not insane.

I don't see GP100 GeForce cards in 6 months, not when GP100 Tesla and Quadro cards aren't coming until January. And if we get an early 2017 GP100 GeForce release, it will be a Titan card for $1000+, they're not going to sell a 1080Ti at $700 before their yields are really strong.

Irc you have one of the EVGA ones with stock pcb? It has some significantly under built componentry that seems to hard limit it's oc capabilities.

 

Other non-reference models have pushed into the 1600s on air.

Okay, fully admit 4K gaming is not here yet unless you run some big SLI or are OK with sub-60 frame rates... (And let's be real here... 2160p is quadruple the pixels 1080p, it is no small upgrade and Moore's Law is rapidly approaching).

 

But my 980Ti has absolutely no problem in 1440p 60+, in pretty much everything. GTAV 1440p is 100+ almost all the time, drops to 90 sometimes. Dunno where you're pulling your numbers.

 

That being said, is Pascal the 4K killer gen? Perhaps not, it seems more likely Volta will be if these benchmarks have any truth to them.

Ah you have GTX980Ti. What are your settings of advanced settings? Is Grass quality on High, VH or Ultra?

Can you try to drive in areas with load of grass and see how are the performance?

One last question (I think lol) can you drive on offroad with light snow activated?

Light snow has small clouds floating around and thick clouds is a huge FPS killer aside MSAA.

 

These are the problems I have with GTAV on 780.

 

Yes, 4K gaming is not here yet but when 2160p60 is finally able, then we all finally can max out any game.

But i may be painfully wrong.

EVGA 970 SC 2974-KR. It's not reference though, it's an EVGA PCB. But it's one of the early 4+2 models, not one of the 6+2 models that hits 1500 with relative ease.

Ahh yes that's what it was. Those things were topping out at like 1430 right?
