Electrical interferance Studio Monitors help???

Go to solution Solved by NoobCase,

A theory of my own.  Could it be that wireless inteference is transfered by the powercord/ac lines? Did you also change the power cards for the monitors or is the one on the left using the same? If that makes any sense

Excellent. Added this to the guide as I failed to consider defective power cables as a major source of wireless interference.

@The Flying Sloth I'm interested to know exactly how close and how parallel the power and audio cables for the monitors were though - it was mentioned in the thread and the guide that they should be kept apart. Was that the case here, or is was the interference so bad that the cable needed replacement?

I'm glad you and your friends were so sure that your troubleshooting guide was a bulletproof design and that you hadn't missed anything. Unfortunately You weren't able to fix my problem and you were far more interested in letting everyone know how useless I was to not have read your 'exhaustive' guide that you forgot to consider that I may just have read it and it may just not have helped at all.

Despite that unpleasentness I will answer your question.

Recently I had a power cable damaged by a family member and it was left with a bent prong (unuseable) I then bought the cheapest power cable I could find as fast as I could because I was left with only one speaker powered. I am guessing that this power cable was not well insulated and caused the interference.

That cable was not touching or parallel to the audio cable and the point they were closest was plugged into the back.

All I did was swap my computer monitor cable with that of the speaker and all was good.

In future just remember that your guide will never have EVERY solution and keep an open mind.

Regards

Sloth

I never expected it to have every solution, including this one. And in fact if you had tried our speakers on another system, as the guide does suggest, the solution might have been arrived at sooner and more smoothly. But that's all water under the bridge. As I stated before, the systematic approach is the ultimate goal of the guide.

My main issue was your refusal to use the guide as a baseline to eliminate possibilities, both as a means of saving time and so that everyone would be on the same page as to what possibilities had been eliminated.

In general, your inability to communicate what steps you had already taken was the main source of grief in this thread.

I'm glad that I learned something new here today. It has made the vaunted guide that much more powerful, and will make me all the more adamant that people read it carefully in future.
