AMD Radeon Pro Duo goes up for preorder

Mind you that price is in AUD, but still in USD that 1,940$. No thanks. Even at 1,500 it cant be justified if youre just a gamer like me. But im sure it will be great for business. I wonder if we will see a mac pro desktop with these.

 

Nothing to really quote here other than the 2,500AUD price tag.

Just CFX 4 Fury X and you have twice the power of the Pro Duo for the same price.

4 Fury X = $2400 USD

AMD Radeon Pro Duo = $1500 USD

 

Also, 4 Fury X is dumb, since you'd have all these random radiators and tubes going around everywhere. The Pro Duo has a single radiator. 

 

And, OP, as AMD says- it's for creative professionals. It's not made specifically for gamers. They don't expect tons of games to buy it.

A bit late with the new cards coming out soon and a bit expensive, since the regular furys pretty much have the same cooler and are clocked a bit higher.

Maybe well see the same 600$ prices we saw with the r9 295x2 in 2017 or so? That would make it quite an interesting card.

As others have mentioned, this is for creative professionals. It's not marketed directly towards gamers, but rather, towards creative professionals who need/want a card that does both heavy compute tasks (Rendering, etc) as well as gaming.

 

It'd be like getting an NVIDIA Quadro that also has GameReady drivers.

 

Price is a bit steep, but it's a pretty niche card. Price will drop before the end of the year, I reckon. Plus they're likely not aiming to sell loads of them anyway.

I get the aim for this card thus the price. Sad though that it didn't come with more VRAM =/

op didn't mention it, but it has the software support (for professional use) and costumer support , that's why it's at premium price

Or because it's a dual GPU card and they're always at this price point.

 

The 295x2 launched at 1500 and sold quite well at that price

The 295x2 launched at 1500 and sold quite well at that price

Wonder if one of the reasons was although it was power hungry, AMD nailed the cooling as underload with a single 120mm, people usually saw temps around 60-75~c which is perfectly more than acceptable.
