If you had unlimited, free access to hardware for the rest of your life, what would you use it for?

I would build a bridge between Earth and Mars with 3DFX Voodoo 3s.

Also nice solar panels the size of China with Xeon cpus.

A forest made out of green motherboards.

Skycrapers made out of SSDs.

the list goes on.

I'd get a rack to hold many 8 GPU servers like Linus' new thing - all for folding.  Mmm... 60 million PPD :P

latest?cb=20140127212049

And I'd get a dual 18 core xeon system with tons of RAM (~128 GB should do it) for a certain purpose (I have a program that would actually use it).  Nothing really beyond the CPU and RAM would be important though.

Next I'd build a new personal rig. I have no complaints with my current one, but, come on, I have unlimited funds for hardware :D  5960X (I'd keep buying more until I find one I can over clock to at least 4.4 GHz), dual 980 Tis, 4 TB of PCIe SSD storage, some backup drives, 32 GB of RAM, all liquid cooled of course.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

How?

A board with 4 6950X's on it and.....never mind, I can't explain 9000 GPU's. Maybe more like 14-15 gamers 4 CPU's? Seems reasonable.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

That's a fallacy, unlimited hardware = unlimited money = inflation and it's worth nothing

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

If I had unlimited hardware, I'd get Titan X + 5960X machines in Raven RVZ02's to replace my friend's XBOX's, so if I went to play with them I don't have to go turn on my Xbox One and play Black Ops 3. We could just play CSGO or something that isn't god awful.

How would you even have 9000 GPUs?

Ikr, maybe go to that place that the LMG team went? The name escapes me now, was it FreeGeek? Go to every location, take every GPU and every GPU at their local tech stores. IDK, but I think the maximum GPU's reasonable for a system would be in the teams. More than that is just unnecessary, and wouldn't fit everyone around a large tabl xD

My main issue is not attaining 9000 GPUs, but technically supporting them on some kind of board in a single system that would be achievable by a consumer.

I'd start an ISP. Having free access to hardware would give me an advantage in the competition against the other ISPs, allowing me to provide insane speeds for cheap. Of course, I'd still need money for buildings, electricity, stretching cables, employees etc.
