Axiom 32gb ddr4

I am attempting to use this ram on my asus b450M and having no luck with it booting. I am unable to find out much info on this ram and if the asus b450M can support 32gb in a single slot.

That is a registered DIMM, and AM4 CPUs do not know how to communicate with registered DIMMs. That DIMM will only work in servers.

How are you able to tell if memory is registered? Does the label list something I’m missing?

x4 are only for ecc rams

big chip in the middle

for info on the ram part number HMA84GR7AFR4N where 8 denotes ic density (8gbit) 4 seems to denote 2rx4 gr7 denotes registered ecc AFR for 8gbit hynix afr, likely wont go above 3600 stable since its ust hynix afr

only usable for cpus and boards thatll support registered ecc hence why your mobo cpu wont run the rams

There's three ways. If you google that part number, the first result has it labeled as "Hynix HMA84GR7AFR4N-VK 32GB DDR4-2666 ECC REG DIMM" so it's almost certainly registered. The second is to look at that organization value, the thing that says 2Rx4. The only way for the organization to be with x4 memory chips is if the DIMM is registered. Not all registered DIMMs are x4, but all x4 DIMMs are registered.

The third is just looking at the DIMM, standard unbuffered DIMMs will have a maximum of 8 memory chips per side (9 if it's ECC), this has 18 and another chip used for registered DIMMs (there's a special name for it I forget off the top of my head)
