Our contacts have told us that memory reads on PS4 are 40-50 per cent quicker than Xbox One, and its ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) is around 50 per cent faster. One basic example we were given suggested that without optimisation for either console, a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but it’ll run at “20-something” FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. “Xbox One is weaker and it’s a pain to use its ESRAM,” concluded one developer.

Doesn't really matter, PS4 sure can have better exclusives but the multi platform will be almost the same. But 50% dammnnn, isn't too much for two setups almost equal?! We PC gamers (and hybridgamers?! ) in general must thank sony and microsoft for this gen now we will see the games taking a real step, because Pc games are kinda chained to consoles in a way.

I really don't thank them for it the ps3 and xbox 360 had a good amount of power for games unlike this gen which will run for 10 years, We will end up being held back by console so much more by the end of the "next gens" life cycle

I don't think it has been this bad before though I guess we'll see with ps4 exclusives compared to cross platform games a few years down the line

Speaking anonymously someone at sony said that thier uncles brothers sons daughters friends contact inside microsoft that theyre putting gerbils inside the xbox and you will get one if you open it but you will of course void your warrenty!..

yeah initially, then we're going to be choking on weak games that while wil inevitably have a few more graphics options on games they will largely be released early purely to sell faster on consoles because console players will buy them and they know it, i think pc gamers are a bit more decerning and will wait and read reviews before taking the plunge.

Well, I feel like being "that guy" today, so here it goes.

Most, if not all, GDDR5 memory runs at like 5000MHz+. Most DDR3 memory runs at like 1866MHz. That is a lot more than "twice as fast".

"it doesn't matter" except that it does. Optimizations only go so far. They are worthless if the capability is not there to optimize beyond a certain point. PS4's capability is a lot greater than the XB1, again, just like last gen (looking at Last of Us for an example of this). 

It doesn't matter right now and for the next year. After that, it totally matters.
