Far Cry Primal map, the same map as Far Cry 4?

Haha GG

Idk, thinking about it some, if they genuinely feel different, it's lame but I don't think I'd care.

Judging from the pictures, it seems like the the two maps are indeed quite similar in a bird's-eye-view, however maybe the actual topography and terrain is different in Primal? I have nothing to back this up though, just a speculation.

Tags should be Farcry, Ubisoft, Game, Development, Map. Not "new low".

If you think this is "low" then I'm afraid you must hate most game developers. Reusing height maps, assets ect. is common practice and you shouldn't get so annoyed by it. The game looks totally different to FC4 as it's been modified so much anyway, they would've taken twice as long if not longer to create the map if they started from scratch, which almost no developer working with an existing engine will actually do.

Honestly I don't mind. It doesn't look the same. This would be much more of an issue if it looked the same and if maps had more of an impact like in fps games.

It's pretty lazy considering you pay full price, but if you think about it, the design is (I imagine) completely different so it's not like if you memorise the map of FC4 you'll immediately know your way around Primal. At least not well enough.

As much as I would have said this is lazy development, I'm actually going to give a devils caveat on this topic. While not to a huge degree (unlike this) most developers re-use assets from previous games, if they work well enough. A great case of this, is the COD everybody forgot on purpose, Ghosts. The cut-scene from the first mission and the cut-scene from the last mission MW2 had IDENTICAL animation when played and synced side-by-side. Only those who played previous COD games really noticed since most gamers join on the current version for them and ever play them retrospectively.

Not that I'm saying what Ubisoft did here is wrong, because it is, environmental changes to a map is a big deal when designing it, and re-using these types of assets just shows lazy developers, since this could not be linked to time constraints due to the environment being one of, if not, the first thing you create in a game, since you need to build around it.

Meh, as long as the game is good, playable and fun, it shouldn't be such a problem.

I personally boycott UbiSoft for years now. Their last game I've played was AC3. I have more fun playing games from other studios in my free time anyway.

Meh if they didnt try to charge 60$ for it it would be fine cause lets be honest this is not GTA or Fallout where you WANT to explore everywhere as there are diffrent and cool things scattered all around this just a boring jungle with animals, so i dont really care if they copied stuff as i wont care about %80 of the map anyways

As long as it has a completely different layout, or looks different better to say, even though it may be the same map I don't care. It's not like you people actually remember Far Cry 4 map that well, or remember it at all. And there was nothing wrong with it. If it weren't for that specific person who noticed most people wouldn't know about this, but we have to make a deal out of everything.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Tbh I don't see why anybody would buy far cry anymore.

4 was just 3 with a new map and now primal is just 4 on the same map with much less content and much more grinding. The literal point of the game is gathering, run from point to point collecting stuff so you can return to your base and press a button to unlock an upgrade then its back to finding shit again.

The game couldn't be anymore shallow if it tried, at this point its exceeded in shallowness only by Elite Dangerous and yet they have the fucking nerve to charge full price for it. It has less of everything and costs the same price as the last 2 games in the series.

And still they insist on gating the map with points which must be captured and outposts which must be taken over, good job UbiSoft, we've never seen that before.

They should have called it FarCry: Customer Buttfuck.

Primal should have been a £15 / $20 expansion pack like blood dragon, then nobody would care

You cant sell a $60 full price retail AAA game that is basically just the last game without guns

How about those of us who didn't really play much or any of the last FC games? I barely played FC3 and skipped FC4 altogether. So for someone like me, FC Primal is a breath of fresh air and a brand new game, completely. It's all about perspective, really. Yeah, for some people, this game is a re-hash and yeah, maybe they reused elements of the FC4 map. So what? It's still a new map and new game for those new to the series.

And, BTW, I don't know why anyone would pay full price for any game these days (especially the overly expensive triple A titles), with all the discounts available.

I'm very much enjoying Primal so far. :) Haters gonna hate. :P

I played both games they are quite fun and different. During my play time I didn't notice similarities in the maps, but from the pictures it kinda looks the same, but terrains are different and the layout is different too.

I don't know if I classify this as lazy ubisoft or smart ubisoft.

It could be argued that having similar maps brings a sense of familiarity to the player, without them knowing why. I'm not making an excuse for Ubershaft Developers, but If I was then this would be the only excuse worth arguing.
