390x vs Fury

Darkr

I need to get a new GPU, and I need to decide between the two.

I have a 1440p 144hz monitor with FreeSync, and am wondering which one is more bang for the buck.

Thanks.

technically no GPU is better bang for the buck, since its $0

the fury performs better, the 390x is cheaper

get what you can afford

Yeah, but does the Fury perform THAT much better in contrast to the cost difference? In my opinion, no. The 390x is a perfect blend on cost to performance.

why are then Fury's so good at 4k?

i never reach 4GB on 4k with mine

OP, i jumped from 390 to Fury, and it was a pretty big (worth) upgrade

390x is somewhere between them, or maybe more to the 390

the problem with that logic is that the cheaper you go, the better performance per dollar you get

until you spend $0 on a GPU and get infinite performance per dollar

so as linus says, get the best performing GPU that you can afford

if he can afford a fury X, he should get a fury X, because he will get better performance

Watch this and think "Are those extra frames worth the price?"

I said in "non-VRAM limited scenarios". Chances are, you're not in a VRAM-limited scenario.

But the 390x has 8g of VRAM, while the Fury has 4g. And that will be a limiting factor in the coming years. With the performance so close, I'd go 390x personally.

Hmm I see 5 - 10% at best

And quite a price difference, I think I would get the 390x

yeah

because as long as you get >0 fps, then you divide that by $0 and get infinity :P

So that means I will be getting an undefined amount of FPSxD

Yes, and no. A better way to put it is performance=cost so you then have 0=cost-performance. So zero performance - zero cost = zero

Algebra II hasn't taught me about such things like limits. We were taught if you divide by 0 you get a undefined number.

oh i see

well dont worry, you will understand a lot more stuff when they teach you how to divide by 0 :P
you learn that later
