Intel Core i7-5820K vs. AMD FX-6300

I know this isn't even in the same league, but I just want to know how different they are.

FX-6300

                                                                           Poor (30th percentile

The FX 6-Core, like most CPUs from AMD, delivers reasonably good server orientated multi threaded performance and consequently good processing thoughput at a reasonable price tag. Where the FX 6-Core lacks is in the area of single core performance which although not normally a major problem for server workloads, is always very relevant to desktop users. The overall performance of the FX 6-Core is comparable to Intel's five years older Core i7-950. There are server orientated use cases where the FX 6-Core will excel thanks to its excellent overall throughput and in those instances the FX 6-Core represents good value for money. But typical desktop users will find far better value elsewhere[Sep '13 CPUPro]

Leaps and bounds. The 5820k has twice the thread capability to start -- 6 cores/12 threads -- over the FX-6300's 6-core/6-thread capability. The only place where the FX-6300 wins between the two is price. The FX will cost about 1/4th the price of the 5820k.

In terms of multithreaded performance you need more than two and a half of FX-6300s to match the 5820k. Single-threaded it's like 60% faster too.

Why are you trying to compare a Corvette C6 with a Prius, OP?

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Not sure if you're a spastic, or are just really shit at trolling.

This is sarcasm correct? It's hard to tell when it's just typed out.

it's worlds faster in every way you can think of...it can handle more than twice the multi-threaded workload per clock cycle, and a good 60 to 70% more throughput in terms of single-threaded performance..., it's head, shoulders and torso above the FX-6300.

It's... pretty large, to say the least. And this is coming from the guy who defends the FX line a whole lot.

I'll take it from here.

The FX 6300 is a great CPU because of  Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Phasellus malesuada mollis ante, nec luctus orci. The i7 will smash it in everything (except cost). If you need more threads, get a consumer grade i7 or Xeon.

If you don't need need threads, get an i5 4690k or 6600k.
