Hello everyone, I was looking on ebay and found a STRIX GTX 980 with no plastic cover and fans, its just a chipboard and heatsink. Where can i purchase fans and the shroud if its possible? if not and theres a good solution that I can try please let me know.

Just buy a aftermarket gpu cooler and use that. But that looks sketchy as hell IMO.

Well its pretty much useless, it will overheat if you dont know what you're doing so im not sure it will go up that fast.

This seems very sketchy....... I think you are about to get a dud card if you buy it. But I guess look around on ebay for coolers that fit the model by people who are water-cooling and no longer want the air cooler would be your best option.

"Untested" generally means they bought it as dead and are selling it nonworking. they probably sold the fans already.

I personally would risk it as I know a thing or two about fixing GPUs. Spent one night and 41$ and I have a working 270x

at idle the GPU doesnt need any fans

why do you think that strix GPUs have a 0 rpm fan mode??

 

it would be easy to just plug it in and boot and see if there is an image on the screen

 

and clearly not having the fans is just an excuse to be able to sell it "unknown if working" because nobody wants a dead GPU

there is no reason why someone should have a GPU without a shroud

if they watercooled, they would have lost the heatsink+shroud together, not just the shroud

 

this is obviously an attempt at selling a dead GPU to someone who hopes it will work
