I found a GTX 980 with no fans for £50. Where can I Get fans?

★ Coups ★
Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

probably a broken card

"i cant test it" is clearly a lie xD

if you want to pay $50 for a dead GPU then sure

Most likely one of those cards that came from Amazon without the shroud. So, If you buy It, and even If you slap a cooler on It, It might not work.

Well, you know what they say. The two easiest things to part are a fool and his money.

I mean, if you want to take the risk, go for it. But don't you think that a repair shop would have sold it if it had a chance of working and just needed new fans?

It says it's untested, so the seller has absolutely no reason to give you money back if it doesn't work.

If he bought items from a closed down computer store, chances are that he too, knows how to fix them. If he didn't, it likely doesn't work.

There are so many signs that this is a bad investment.

I'd almost guarantee it. There are the odd good find on eBay, this isn't one.

Tech rarely is, most people overpay.

also... Theres a thing on ebay where you can set a minimum... so if it doesnt reach high enough then it wont sell....

It's called a Reserve, and this auction clearly doesn't have one.

I personally would risk it as I know a thing or two about fixing GPUs. Spent one night and 41$ and I have a working 270x

Yeah, but judging by the description, it won't work.

Wait....aren't the Strix cards set up to run fanless unless temps start to go up?  It wouldn't hurt a think to plug this card in with some case fans blowing on it, to test and make sure it works.  I wouldn't give anything for this.....

Means nothing. You can't really fault someone when you go in knowing it might not work, now can you?

Also looking back through his other auctions there are none that say UNTESTED.

There are also few electronic items, most being baby clothes.
