Can I plug an 8 pin ATX CPU cable into an 8 pin EPS slot?

Recently started upgrading my cpu and motherboard and I was almost finished when I realized I didn't have the extra cables from my power supply, which meant I had only the ATX CPU power cable. The new motherboard I got has an EPS connector, I've read that it should be okay but I just wanted to make sure since I could only find one topic on it,thanks!

Okay, thank you, I was just worried because they had different rounded/squared pins and I didn't want to brick anything

Can you post a picture of the cable connector?

then you are using the wrong kind of connector

It seems that you are trying to put a PCI-E 8pin connector into EPS slot

I just realized that this same configuration of cables was on my old motherboard, so it appears that it should work fine, thanks for tolerating my idiocyeveryone :P

Yes that is a 4+4pin EPS or CPU connector and will work, sometimes the connector do not always follow the rounded or square connections per pin.

You're good with that connector. It's a 4+4 which is the same as an 8 pin EPS connector functionally.
