When did the real apple start folding?

I imagine they have a room filled with hundreds of mac minis  :lol: that would be funny if it was true.

Wouldn't it be easier to just wire up specialised processors to a custom mobo? Idk even on USB 3.0 sticks? Why use whole phone/tablet/laptop? It's stupid and a waste of energy.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

there is one guy on that team that has access to a lot of computers. He puts out twice the ppd of our entire team.

yeah, that's basically a one man team with him doing almost 7,5 mil ppd http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=1991

EDIT: this is what he's folding on apparently, all mac folding farm

Half the hardware I have access to is Mid 2010 Mac Pros 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeons.

The other half are Early 2009 Quad Cores.

Almost 400 boxes that are not always in use - unless I use them.

I am hoping to deploy some of those new Mac Pros this fall. The speed, the Thunderbolts are going to be necessary for resources needed.

Just don't think I'll see more than a dozen for a few years.

And just as I mention in that thread, in order to out pace this guy, a few teams would have to merge together to match and/or out pace him.

Now your team has increased PPD by quite a bit since I did the comparison, although you guys would still need another team that makes about 3M to 4M PPD to match his output.

[spoiler=]Or whaler_99 going to have to buy a whole bunch of high end 4p servers :P

People shouldn't forget that this isn't such a bad thing. I mean, yes, a team will overtake us, but by the end of next week we will overtake 4 other teams. the most important part is consistency. we just need to continue folding like we are now and everything should be ok :)

Exactly this - teams will come up and pass us, we will continue to pass teams. We just need to stick with it and keep adding active folders to the team.

Now I feel bad I have had to stop folding completely the past couple of weeks because the A/C in my house is out. If I leave my computers folding it would be a constant 95 F 24/7 and in my room it would get hotter. I can't live like that haha.

Work Station:: Cooler Master Storm Trooper // i7-3930K @ 3.9 GHz // Asus Sabertooth X79 // Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4X4GB) 1600 MHz // Cooler Master 1200W Gold // Xonar Essence STX // Radeon HD 6970 // Avermedia HD Live Gamer Pro

Gaming Rig:: Cooler Master Scout // i7-2700k @ 4.0GHz // MSI Z68 // G-Skill Ripjaw 16GB (4X4EB) 1066MHz // Antec 750W Bronze // Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD // EVGA GTX 670
