If you have any pre-purchase approvals you should unlink them through PayPal's website. The key is to not touch or do anything with Steam itself.

So de-link paypal and my debit card?

Just unlink your cards/bank accounts from paypal temporarily if you can't through steam.

If you have it set to pre-approve purchases then yes, if not then the user logged in still needs a CVC or CVV code to make purchases which they do not have access to.

Go to PayPal website and do it there, not through steam.

 

Same for credit/debit cards. They tweeted that but I don't find the tweet.

 

Logging in and doing changes actually puts you at risk.

Valve, can fuck up. Just because something bad happened, doesn't mean it was hacked. 

Given the circumstances at the moment it is not hard to tell what is going on...

If you have to put in a CVV or CVC everytime you make a purchase, then you do not need to unlink anything. If it automatically charges without you inputting anything, then unlink that account through the provider's service, not through Steam.

my guess is; this is a hack attack

i mean, it's christmas day and there's been a rumor lately that a hacking team was going to attack minecraft and steam servers these days

 

not sure whats going on though

if this is an internal matter, valve fucked up big time

You still want to unlink pre-approved purchasing through PayPal or your bank. Just do not do it through Steam.

yeah of course, I mean leave Steam alone.

 

I guess a lot of people are going to rush in to their accounts and remove stuff, when that's actually risky.

i don't think that two step verification is helping here since it's bypassing login all together and showing random people random accounts
