Oh, I agree. This was incredibly unacceptable. And if this had happened on Origin or Uplay, a shitstorm would have swallowed them whole. Even if it lasted for half the time it did for Steam.

To those claiming data is censored...not all the way. Lots of people on reddit were posting images that proved they could see the last digits of phone numbers, credit cards, emails etc etc.

 

At least it was resolved within an hour. Could have been a lot worse, I guess.

 

Yes, the last 2 or 4 digits were visible, but that's it (right?); afaik no one was able to get whole pieces of this info

IIRC it's required by law that these things are censored by default.

It was possible to get full phone numbers by clicking edit. AFAIK everything else was censored though.

What gets me us the total lack of backlash over this, it's as though Valve can do no harm. If this was EA or Ubisoft the internet would have doubled in size from posts from angry users demanding heads on pikes and free games but Valve, everyone just goes 'meh' and moves on.
