Using Liquid nitrogen to cool cpu while gaming? Is it ideal? Or is it just for extreme over clocking?

You're not going to be doing much gaming when you have to refill the LN2 and torch the CPU heatspreader every twenty seconds...

well you would need to constantly be pouring it in...

so you would need an extra person there to do that for you while you game

and you would need to buy huge tanks of LN2 every few days, which isnt cheap

It's only really for the extreme overclocks, not that necessary for games mostly I would say.. (As games dont use that much CPU anyways)

 

I know @Lays has one of these LN2 coolers though

People have to understand, lowering the temperature isn't going to improve the speed of the processor, it merely doesn't allow it to thermal throttle.

Linus has a vid on that, he used his phasechange PC. You are right, and in response to the OP ( @Vengeance_K1ng ), yes, it is only for extreme overclocking.

But if that Phase Change would have bigger condenser then it would cool more

And that is related to the OP and my post how?

He was getting sub zero temps (Which is excessive and risked condensation, although he did take precautions), and then 70 degrees with the stock cooler, and proved there was no difference in performance (Excluding overclocks).

So LN2 cooling for gaming isnt good because games are mostly GPU intensive games. But if you want subzero temps without pouring LN2 every minute then i would suggest an Phase Change or and Peltier TEC cooling. Or another is this

Thermal throttling excluded, making the cpu run at colder temps will give you more mhz at the same voltage though.

You may only be able to do 4.8 ghz at 1.3 volts on water, on ln2 the same chip would/could do 5.2,5.3 ghz at the same voltages.
